1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Annabelle - Cell Shading on the computer! on: September 01, 2009 04:16:26 PM

First, I want to say that there is SO MUCH talent on this forum.
I'm a lurker and poster in the sewing community, but I never came there until now ; and I'm so impressed by all your work. You guys are amazing. Wink

Now, for my drawing :

First drawing in 3 months! ♥
Turned out so much better than I thought it would. I'm so happy with it!

Annabelle is one of my main OC. She's inocent, very sweet and wear mostly Lolita clothing. She works in a toy shop, and can't understand why people are mean in general. Very naive and kinda cry-baby girl ~ The kind of person that would burst out crying in front of a suffering animal and do the best to help it, even if it's dangerous. But she's so lovely!

Done without a tablet. 100% mouse and Pen Tool.
Paint Shop Pro 8

About 8 hours ~

What are your thoughts on it? What should I improve?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Lolita inspired bag [ Huge Bow ahead ] on: July 28, 2009 11:40:21 AM

Wheee! It's finally done and fully functional! ^0^
Now, for the story :

I was browsing a Lolita brand website, Angelic Pretty (Link) when I saw their bags. OH MY GOD. So so lovely. And so pricey; over 100$ US each. ;0;
So why not make my own inspired by all my favourite bag? I so did.
I drafted my own pattern, took 1 meter of kind of fake/cheap leather-like fabric, 1 meter of lining (see here), a zipper and some white piping I had laying around, and I was set.

After many, many hours of work, I was done.  Cheesy
Working with that fabric is a bit of a pain, since you can't sew it twice at the same place, or there will be too many holes and it will simply fall apart. There's many little mistakes, it doesn't stand well on it's own, but once you put stuff in it, it's alright. I choose to put a single strap from a side to another, personal preference.

Overall, I'm very happy with the result, and I can't make to do a red or white one next. And this bag cost me only 15$. Smiley

What do you think about it?  Wink
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My own Heart Apron! ♥ on: September 02, 2008 10:39:31 AM

Inspired by I love Lucy's Apron by KimsCozyKitchen !

Always ask someone else to tie the ribbon. Mine looks dumb when I do it by myself! Cheesy
I drafted my own pattern for it: SO easy! Cheesy
It's made from a old fabric I had somewhere, and 1 pair of jeans... and a half! But since it's not 100% reconstructed, I post it here.

I saw I ♥ Lucy's apron, and it inspired me... Yet I had no reason to make one.
BUT! My plastic art class asked for an apron or an old T-shirt, so... Here you go!

I totally love it. Cheesy
4  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Autumn/Winter Coat anyone? on: August 22, 2008 07:32:08 AM
Hey guys!  Cheesy

Summer is almost finished, meaning that autumn and winter are coming very soon...
And since such a project must be quite long to do, why don't we start now?  Wink

Like I said, it's a long project, so if you think you may do one like, in september or october, the topic will still be up for you!

As for my project.

Winter Lolita-ish Coat [ Cat themed ]

Inspiration : x
Pattern (With some modif.) : Burda 7857

I fell in love at first sight with the lolita dress like, 8 months ago. Yet it's too long (Below the knee!) and too costy! (200$... Ouch!)
So I told myself, Why don't I try to do it by myself?  Cheesy
I found a similar pattern, that is like, 90% accruate.

I'll have to modify :

- Add some faux-fur, or another soft fabric, at the bottom of the coat ,sleeves and pockets.
- Maybe add a detachable cat-tail just for the fun of it. ♥
- Make the coat a bit more Poofy at the bottom, and a little bit shorter.
- Add a corset-type thing on the back, so the fit is almost perfect!
- Do the cape (If someone can help me with this... D:)

Material needed :

The Pattern
- 4 yards of Black Wool
- 1 to 2 yards of Faux-fur (Or white wool, depending on price  Embarrassed)
- 3 yards of lining
- To be completed

5  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / A "Work in Progress" Board? on: August 21, 2008 07:04:34 PM
Hey guys!
How about a board where you can start a new project and keep everything on your topic up to date?
I mean, I want to start 2 big sewing projects right now.
I would love to make a topic, where I could put everything I need to do them and share it with the Craftster's community, instead of doing it in a boring Word document. Tongue
We could ask some suggestion and help here too, but the main point would be to show your work in progress and get some advice.

- I don't know if the board Discussions and Questions about Clothing or Sewing has this goal, but I think it doesn't perfectly suits what I would like to do.  Huh

Example of a topic:

Title : Winter Lolita Coat [ 10% done ]

- Inspiration :  x

- [Why do I want to make this ~]

- Pattern in use : Burda 7857

- Material needed :
 ♥ Wool fabric [ ____ yards ]
 ♥ Ribbons
 ♥ Faux-fur [ ____ yards ]

- Steps:
1. Bring all the materials Done!
2. Cut the Pattern
3. Cut the fabric
4. And so on...

And people could give their opinions, comments, and criticisms. Tongue

What do you think?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first time using a pattern! New Look 6466, Misses' Tops ♥ [Big Pic ] on: August 09, 2008 10:20:06 PM

After many hours, 2 burns, a lot of frustration with that red light weighted fabric... It's done!!  Cheesy
My first clothing, first time using a pattern, and hopefully not the last one!

It was hard to understand it by my own, so I just did my own way for making the skirt and over skirt, fixing the zipper, and fix the top to the skirts, and adding that ribbon...!

Better pictures coming tomorrow, now I'm just too tired...  Tongue

Comment and constructive criticisms is appreciated, since it's my first time, I made many mistakes, don't be too harsh Wink

Thank you for reading and commenting! ♥
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Working with very lightweighted fabric... A PAIN! on: August 08, 2008 05:35:17 PM
Hi dear Craftsters!
I'm currently working with this pattern -> New Look 6466
The thing is, I'm working with a very light fabric (Don't know the exact name in english, sorry Sad). It stretches at every single move, it doesn't look like how it should be when I'm finished cutting, it's really driving me CRAZY!!
But it's perfect for my project!  Cry

Do you have some tips to give me so I can CUT the fabric without a problem?
To sew, I'll have piece of a bit thicker material, so it will be alright, I'll pin it.

Thank you for your help, and share your experience with very lightweighted fabric!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pattern for a Winter Coat like this? on: August 04, 2008 07:28:33 AM
Hi Craftster! Wink
I want to do this kind of coat for this winter.

Do you know a pattern similar to this?
It look pretty simple, yet I'm kinda new to sewing, so...

If you know a pattern, or if you could draw me one (Can be very simple you know, my dad could help me get it right Smiley), I would be very glad if you could tell me!  Cheesy

Have a nice day,, and thanks in advance for your help!
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / More Chip bag's pencil case and... bag! on: April 17, 2008 03:01:11 PM
Hey hey Craftsters, long time no see!
I should come more to comment on your beautiful stuff ^^

I've been making tons of those Pencil case but I'll only show you a few  Wink

People seem to love them <3
And I am so totally amazed by this bag, my first bottom-bag EVER!
I loved to do it, what a fun bag  Cheesy

Interested in making one? You need:
Sticky vinyl sheet, or Grip-tac.They usually come in roll ^^
Chip bags, or any fun packages.
The pattern of your project: You can do almost anything with them! (Well, not clothes, but it could be cool!  Cheesy)

You wash your chip bags like normal dishes, and be careful about not tearing them! Once your done, you will have to place them on the vinyl sheet like how you want them to be. Do not hesitate to cut them and take only the parts you want! It's up to you! This will be your fabric, so place and cut in the shape you need to do your project!
Then, carefully sew: Once a hole is made, you cannot make it disappear! So it's a bit more tricky if you need to pin them.

I hope this gave you some ideas, you can do this with any package of candy, chips, cookies... Have fun andgo crazy!  Wink
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sun Chips pencil case! [With link to the Tutorial I used] on: March 16, 2008 07:13:38 AM
Hi there!  Smiley
This is my first post, and I'm kinda intimidated by all of you... Crafter is such a big, creative and awesome community: Because of you, I began to sew now! <3

This is my second project.
The first one is a plain totebag, too plain xD;
I had to do it 2 times, since the first time I cut my bag too small for the zipper x__x;
There is many imperfections, but for a second time, I'm pretty proud of it ^^
First time sewing a zipper, a good one ^0^

I used the tutorial here :

Easy to follow for a begginer like me!
Hope you like it, comments and suggetions really appreciated Wink

Oh, I forgot to mention! I didn't use vinyl, instead I used some transparent and self-adhesive sheet from 1$ shop, it works so perfectly! ^^
