2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: The random RESIN question thread! on: August 04, 2013 03:08:07 PM
There are different kinds of resin, and the 2 main kinds are intended either for deep molds or for shallow molds and coatings.  And one "tweaked" epoxy resin (Easy Cast) can be used for both but has some disadvantages after curing.

You can read a lot about the kinds and how they can/should be used, as well as molds you can use or molds you can make to use with resin, plus much more, in my previous YahooAnswers here (which also include a link to the page at my site on resins):

Wow! Thanks Smiley you rock

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about rings on: July 26, 2013 05:49:08 PM
Any kind of cheap metal will turn your finger green i'm pretty sure. i know there is a trick where you can coat it in clear nail polish and it will prevent it but i dont think it will last very long.

Sterling silver i think is the only silver that won't turn your finger green as far as i know, because its plated. But it really depends on the person's skin. i know my cousin can only wear sterling silver and gold because she is allergic to other metals. I also know some people who can wear cheap costume jewellery and there fingers never turn green.

That's all i know. and i'm not even sure if i'm accurate. Try talking to a jeweler. I would hope they knew more than me Smiley

So i have never used resin before... i was wondering if they have to be used with molds? or if there's a way you can make your own mold??? These may be stupid questions, but i literally know NOTHING about the stuff!!
