21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Simple Modern Quilt--With Pattern on: June 22, 2010 09:18:59 PM
That looks awesome, Mare!  I've always wanted to make a modern quilt like that.  You did a great job, I'm sure your partner loves it!  Smiley

I have five dryer ball cores all tucked into an old snagged nylon, tied and ready to go through the wash tomorrow!  I also found an old sweater (that was attacked by moths several years ago) that I may be able to use for my balls.  It has a tiny bit of nylon in it so I'll do a felt test tomorrow to make sure it will felt.

Next on the list will be some flannel swiffer cloths from some stash flannel.  Smiley

Yes, cleaning and tension will most likely solve the issue.  My machine is cranky too (it's from freecycle) but can be kept in shape with a little love.

I'm working on making dryer balls!  Our dryer takes forever and a day to dry clothes so I'm hoping it will save on our drying time - saves both time and electricity costs.  So far I've made two cores with some old sweater sleeves.  I was hoping to make them just out of stash, but I don't have very much wool yarn.  I'll have to figure something out.

I just found this thread but I'm definitely going to participate!  I've been on a mega stash bust/frugal crafting kick the last few months.  I crocheted a bunch with stash and I've been sewing more and more clothes.  I've also been trying to clean cheaper and greener.  I can't wait to be able to post some of my completed projects for you in the future!  Smiley

I'm all about making my life better by getting rid of my stash (aka clutter) and doing things that make my life better.
25  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Tudor Kirtle on: June 20, 2010 08:10:47 AM
Nice job!  And the hand done eyelets I did for a similar ren faire dress were done basically the same way, including the pencil, so you're not alone.  Cheesy

Very cute!  Your dress actually inspired me to run out and get that pattern (since Joanns had $1.99 Simplicity patterns through today).  Cheesy

Very nice!  I recently bought a very similar dress (on clearance!) at Target, it's a very classic look that you'll be able to use for a while.  Big thumbs up for having good taste and for making it yourself!  Grin

Very nice!  I love the fabric and it looks great on you.  Smiley

I love it!  I agree with alwaysinmyroom, I love that the fabric is thick and doesn't have a lot of holes.  And you're so fast!
