11  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Slackers Quilted Throw on: September 11, 2010 11:43:43 AM
Well, not all of my lines are perfect.  Where the lines meet, there are a lot of places where the fabric is a bit puckered, but that kind of just increases the crinkliness.  I think it helps that I pinned the quilt a lot before I started.

I love it!  The color is nice and the pattern is really pretty.  Smiley
13  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Slackers Quilted Throw on: September 11, 2010 10:01:51 AM
Here is my latest slacker quilted throw, and my first one that I'm keeping!  Grin

Everything except for the binding is from my stash; the batting was left over from a throw I made my friends, the blues were from quite a few different sources, and the backing was an old blue sheet someone gave me.  I'm very lazy about quilts, I like large blocks and have not bothered to get a quilting foot.  However, my bad stitching kind of helps to give it that crinkly quality I like, so I just tell myself it's a "feature".  Wink

It's by far not a fancy quilt, but it's nice for snuggling on the couch under!

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Painted Top Coffee Table on: September 11, 2010 09:55:43 AM
When I got my first unfurnished college apartment, I got a bunch of real cheap stuff at Ikea, including a LACK coffee table.  After about 4 years, my little coffee table had seen better days, so I started looking out for a cheap one on Craigslist that I could refinish.

I really lucked out by finding a great little coffee table for $5!  Grin  I love the drawer (perfect for my husband's Xbox controllers and remote) and the shelf.  The table was solid wood and was in great shape except for the top; the top was a thin veneer and was quite chipped up and water stained from the previous owners.  Since it wasn't really a candidate for staining, I decided to just paint the top.  After a couple coats of spray primer, a spray paint (I decided I wasn't in the mood to brush), and quite a few coats of wipe-on poly, here it is:

Not a very impressive or difficult redo, but it certainly did brighten up my living room!  Smiley

18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: jewellery display on: August 15, 2010 09:22:15 AM
I'd definitely second the idea to use mesh.  It would really help fill up that middle space as well as create a ton more earring storing potential.  Smiley

Looks great!  I like the combo of fabrics you used.  Smiley

And congrats on the new sewing machine!

That is so awesome!  I can't believe that someone actually did that!  Cheesy  You definitely take the cake!
