3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / New Wheel and Frist Hand Spun! on: April 19, 2009 07:37:31 PM
I just got my very first spinning wheel!- 2 years ago= but I tried to stain it myself- and for some reason I thought that staining it hot pink would be cool- but I wasn't.  So it laid in the closet, un-assembled for some time.  And then my dad came to the rescue and stained it a darker, deep red.

in the sun

it's an ashford traveler that my mom got for me in exchange for an article she wrote for "The Wheel"

Closer to the true color

Then I spun my first yarn on my new wheel!

I'm so excited to start this new obession.

what do you all think of my funky wheel?

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Vintage Handwarmers on: January 07, 2009 02:20:32 PM
I made some vintage-style hand warmers!  I loved the color of this yarn (sort of a vintage aqua) and when I found these cute vintage buttons I decided to design some cute hand warmers!

The pattern is made up by me!  I think I messed up a but because there was a little time between when I made the first and made the second.  I think I cast on 2 extra for one... but whatever.  Always write down what you've done kids!

more picss..

I do love them!

I conquered my first entrelac project!!  I was always so intimidated to try entrelac- turns out that it wasn't that bad!  I had a great time.  Cheesy

I used a pattern found on this blog- http://verbenaknits.blogspot.com/ it's a variation from a baby hat pattern.

I used noro- I love knitting with it but it always rips.  :/

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Oh christmas sled, oh christmas sled, aka- the poor (wo)mans christmas tree on: December 10, 2008 08:45:33 PM
My roommate and I can't afford a tree so we made use of the awesome old sled that my dad gave me and all the things we have around our house.  We also added a really sweet nativity in on the side

The result: Christmas sled!

the sled and all it's decorations

oh Christmas sled, oh christmas sled!

the nativity.  We have Elvis, a llama, a goat and a couple of exotic birds, oh, and  a rock.  and of course baby Jesus is there.  Can you spot Mary?

Close up of my main monkey Jojo- a gift I made for my boyfriend a few years ago.

I loooove christmas!
