Details of swap:

Have you been given craft supplies by well-intentioned friends, only to find its all supplies for crafts you DO NOT know how to do?  Have a surplus of supplies you are willing to bid adieu and ship to a new loving home?  Have I got a deal for you  Grin

This swap is all about filling a small flat rate box or small flat rate envelope with supplies to your partner(s) and making their day!  You will have a choice of ONE or TWO partners for this swap.

Crafted items are NOT requiredbut who wouldnt like a little goodie tucked in with their yarn/fabric/beads/embroidery floss/etc.?  LOL!

Here are links to the small box and envelope we will be using.  Flat rate boxes cost $5.00 and flat rate envelopes cost 4.75 to ship online with Click n ShipANDClick n Ship cost INCLUDES the cost for delivery confirmation!  Delivery confirmation IS REQUIRED for this swap, and because its SO easy, I highly recommend using the Click n Ship method.  Also, you can schedule a FREE pickup for your mail person to pick up the item!!  If you don't want to sign up and ship online, of course you can ship these from the post office.  They will cost you 5.20+delivery confirmation (which is .70) for the box, or 4.95+DC for the envelope....so....you are spending almost $1 more to go there, wait in line, and ship in person than you would be online!

You can order these boxes or envelopes for FREE from these links, but they DO take 7-10 days to arrive as they are shipped by parcel post AKA slow boat shipping so be sure to order early!!  Most post offices do stock these or have them in back (they are REALLY pushing the flat rate thing on their website to cut back on foot traffic to the counters), just pick them up in person or ask if they are not out front...again, why waste time when you have them bring them to you by ordering online Smiley  Can you see I love to be self-sufficient?  LOL!

Small Flat Rate Box Dimensions: 5-3/8 x 8-5/8 x 1-5/8
http://tinyurl.com/y9994p7

Small Flat Rate Envelope Dimensions: 12.5" x 9.5"
http://tinyurl.com/yg6swuj

To sign up to do Click n Ship

The flat rate envelope would be best suited for larger pieces of fabric, paper and ephemera, embroidery floss, patterns and booklets, or other flatter-type items.  Beads, stamps, yarn, scissors, and other non-flat-type stuff would be best shipped in the small box.  They both would hold about the same amount, one is really just better for paper goods because they will not have to be folded a lot, maybe just cut down a little bit.

Please communicate in the thread or by PM once a week.  If this swap gets VERY large, I will coordinate a weekly check-in PM with my co-organizer to make sure everyone is still out there and plans on sending.

I will do my very best to make sure wants and needs match up the best, but allergies/allergens take precedence to keep us all healthy Smiley

And, the most important rule..HAVE FUN!!

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO TheSapphireMoon VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Jewelry and Trinkets Featured Projects - Quarter 4 2010

2010 is over and done, but these folks' projects for the final leg of the year in October, November, and December really left a lasting impression Smiley

Completed Projects: General

EyeofMazikeen chose to post this Zippers and Pearls necklace as her first project post, and wow, what a stunning look!

Everyone loves a bit of whimsy, and these Balloon Animal Necklaces made by Ravishing Jane are just the ticket.  Remember getting these at birthday parties or the fair?

Even though polymer clay has it's own board, these lovely Steampunk Butterflies have made it to the top of my short list on this board Smiley  azreno did a splendid job with these fluttery critters!

Completed Projects: Reconstructed

'Happy Autumn' read the closing line on this cute little Nut Necklace made by Luxe.  What an ingenious way to reuse a found object!

Completed Projects: Beading

The art of beading vs general jewelry making still alludes me, and this lovely 3 Strand Necklace made by Moonfleet further hammers home the fact that I REALLY need to learn how to get fancy with my beading!  Another first project post on Craftster, this member sure knows how to make an entrance!

A great big thank you to all the members featured in this final quarter of 2010, you all are truly inspiring Smiley

Details of swap:

With the economy being so bad, and everyone pinching pennies so hard their fingers hurt...why not craft an item for FREE?  The theme is meant for you to use something you already have or can get for free (or out of the garbage, hence trash to treasure Wink )and to make something new with it.  Bedsheet to skirt, or totebag, pair of old jeans to apron, fulled wool sweater to mittens and hat, etc.  Recycled or upcycled, either way is fine as long as you use something you already have or got for free.  Hit up your mother/grandma/aunt for an old something you know they don't use anymore or are going to give away.  The possibilities are ENDLESS!!

FRIENDS OF CRAFTSTER ONLY, PLEASE!

Not a Friend of Craftster? Join here! Support the website that supports your crafting needs Smiley

https://www.craftster.org/subscribe.php

Items MUST be crafted and ready to go by the end of signups, as you only have 1 WEEK to send them out! So once you know you are approved, start craftin!

If you have a pre-made item, GREAT! This means youre ready to go and weve barely begun, so post a picture and sit back and chat us up til signups close!

Photos of all 'prizes' are DUE NO LATER than 1/24 so everyone has an opportunity to see what will be offered before the drawing and sendouts.  If you do not post a picture by this date or at all, it will be noted in your feedback, as this IS a requirement for this swap to be a success.

Drawing will be done on 1/25, PMs will be sent to the 'prize' creators letting them know who 'won' their item and where it should be sent to.

Swap is for: one (1) medium item (Medium = 2 or more crafting hours OR $10-$30 dollars) Can also be a pair/set of 2-3 small items to equal 1 medium. Please PM me if you have questions about your item offered.

This will be a 'raffle' style swap. There will be 2 hats: one full of swapper's names and one full of the items made by these swappers (with the name of who made that item below it to avoid the creator 'winning' back their own creation!). A name will be picked, then an item picked, and that person gets that item drawn! An almost complete surprise...as photos would be posted of all items for all to see, so you can look and dream and wish for all the ones you like...then see what shows up at your door! Serious concerns will be addressed in the swap questionnaire (i.e.-Vegans receiving things made from wool and other animal-derivatives, wool/food/smoke/etc. allergies, etc.) so people don't end up with something they ABSOLUTELY cannot have around them or their family for health/lifestyle/etc. issues, and if it happens, then the name and item both go back in the hat and are drawn again until a favorable match comes up.

When a winner is chosen, the creator of their prize will get their address from the organizer in a PM. PLEASE try to keep this a SECRET if you DO figure out who you are sending to! This way the winner will be surprised with their prize when it arrives

Please communicate in the thread OR by PM to the organizer ONCE a week at a minimum so we know you are still out there and crafting for the swap. If I have not seen you posting in the thread, this will be reflected in your feedback.  I will check in with you when there is about 1 week left to make sure you are still in on a prize for the drawing.

Delivery Confirmation is required for this swap.  For international mailings, please retain your receipt until your partner receives.

Please PM the DC to the organizer, me TheSapphireMoon, once you have sent so I can update your name on the front page and maintain my records. For any items that are lost in the mail, adequate time for the package to arrive or be returned to the sender will be allowed.  If it never arrives after a reasonable amount of time, a swap angel will be arranged to craft a comparable prize for the winner.

Feedback will be given when your partner has received.  Please PM me when you send AND when you receive so I can keep my lists updated!

Negative feedback will be given if you have not sent out by 2 weeks past the sendout date, and an angel will be found for your winner.  Seeing as this is a premade craft raffle, and you have to have a completed item posted before the drawingI dont see this happening for anyonebut you never know what life has in store for you from one day to the next!

I will post a gallery for prizes so when the winner receives their item and may have it displayed in their home/wearing it/put it to use in some way, they may post a picture or two for us showing off their great prize.

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Vintage Trinkets - A Cluster Bracelet on: November 29, 2010 10:47:41 AM
So I'm part of Shop the Swap, a recurring/ongoing monthly swap, and received a request from audio for a custom cluster bracelet.

She wanted vintage bits n bobs, and sent me a TON of Etsy links for inspiration to draw on, as well as colors to use: black, silver, white, clear, purple.

Here's what I came up with:

The vintage lady focal pendant has been in my stash for at least 6-8 months, and it was PERFECT for her piece!  Other items featured are: buttons, pearls, keys, bicones, various glass and plastic beads on a large link chain with Bali toggle closure.

C&C welcome!
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Button Encrusted Christmas Stocking on: November 28, 2010 03:20:07 PM
As soon as signups went up for the Christmas Stocking Swap Round 6, I IMMEDIATELY knew what I wanted to make.  I just hoped and prayed that whomever I ended up with for a partner would LOVE the idea...boy was I in luck!  murbeck was my partner in this swap and she was TOTALLY down for a button-encrusted stocking.

This is what I came up with after mulling over what to put on here that wasn't going to be too hard to reproduce in buttons, and wasn't religious-oriented, but still festive.

I'm head over heels THRILLED with how this came out!!!!  I ADORE this and SOOOOOOOO wanted to keep it when I was done.  murbeck, you're one lucky lady, lemme tell ya Wink

Here's a couple close ups of the button-gasm that is...my FIRST stocking!!

(check out the cute little cookie jar button!)

Oh, the HOURS that went into this!!  I have a picture in my head for what I want to put on my next stocking for myself.  Gotta stock up on more buttons Shocked

Tell me what you think!  C&C welcome Grin
28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Featured Projects - 3rd Quarter 2010 on: November 02, 2010 08:59:59 AM
Jewelry and Trinkets Featured Projects - 3rd Quarter 2010

WOW, 3rd quarter (again, slightly late, sorry!), I can't believe 2010 is almost over!  These folks really kept it crafty over the later summer months through July, August, and September.  Get your wisting fingers ready, I know mine's already sore from so much use Wink

Completed Projects: General

Tree of Life pendants are favorite items to make by craftsters all around the site, however, when I think of tree of life pendants myself, this lovely lady is the one that comes to mind first.  phoenixfiredesigns made this gorgeous Agate Geode Slice Tree of Life Pendant with topaz and amethyst and I'm simply in love  Kiss  Amethyst is my birthstone, so natually I'm a little biased, but her craftswomanship just blows me away on ALL of her pieces EVERY time!

I am in awe of the patience needed to make kanzashi flowers.  These stunning Bridal Kanzashi's made by KansashiHime are some of the finest work I've seen!

I was really impressed with the Cerberus made by BananaAmbush.  I'm not a metalworker by ANY stretch of the imagination, so this craft is VERY inspiring to me.  Sawing and riveting and buffing, OH MY!

Completed Projects: Reconstructed

I'm a huge Monopoly fan, so when I saw this Rainbow Monopoly Necklace by Burgz I was instantly jealous.  It's in FRENCH, too!!  What a lucky swap partner!  I would have never thought to reuse cards out of a game for something like this.

[/center]

japaya has made some lovely work in the past, and this recent recycled creation is no exception!  From old flyers and a keyring... comes this AMAZING necklace and earrings set!  Papercrafting like this is another thing on my list of 'I wish I could do that'.  Who knew recycling could be so awesome?

Completed Projects: Beading

Ah, beadwork, how you allude me!  I'm simply floored by the work crazydoc does with beads!  This Swirly Goodness toggle bracelet is wonderful.  Someday I'll have the time to learn about how to make things like this...oh, someday Smiley

This Seaweed Bracelet made by rlynn is so unique and painstakingly created.  I can't even imagine the time needed to create this.  What a lovely effect!

Thank you to all the featured projects' creators and to everyone posting in the category all year long, you all make this one inspiring place to be!
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Featured Projects - 2nd Quarter 2010 on: October 04, 2010 06:25:36 PM
Jewelry and Trinkets Featured Projects - 2nd Quarter 2010

Hi there, folks!  My apologies for this posting being a bit belated  Embarrassed  If it's any consolation, I've had a blast sorting through all the projects in here and I had a list a mile long before whittling it down to a handful of your and my top picks.  Read on for a smattering of projects from April, May, and June!

Completed Projects: General

Lovely pink spiral earrings made by KraftyKitten007.  I've been wanting to try my hand at wire wrapping and these Pretty Pink Wire Wrapped Earrings are right up my alley for what I would wear.

With two rounds of the Loaded Charm Bracelet swap going around, there have been all kinds of lovely bracelets popping up on here.  This Purple Loaded Charm Bracelet made by whitelilycreations was particularly lovely to me.  I'm a big purple fan, and the focal flower locket really pulled the whole piece together.

I truly admire those that are metalsmiths, and this BIG Copper Poppy made by ammasmama really hammers it home for me (pun COMPLETELY intended LOL)!

I love an elegant, simple piece of jewelry and the Adele Necklace made by False_desire is one of my favorites for this summer.  The Swarovski glass pearl is a perfect touch Smiley

Completed Projects: Reconstructed

I'm all for recycling, especially when free/found materials can be repurposed into something like these Awesome Laminate Sample Necklaces made by askaboutrpickles.

OK, so I've got a special place in my heart for recycled home building materials!  LOL!  I couldn't tell this pendant was made from some Baseboard Molding Sample and a Map.  I think jewelrybug REALLY turned this piece into something totally rockin'!

Completed Projects: Beading

I adore bead work, and this beautiful blue beauty made by impastabowl is no exception!  Each one of these Various and Sundry Necklaces are lovely.

This Beaded Goddess Doll by beadizzygrl is BEYOND amazing.  The time and patience it must have taken to create this, just WOW.  I'm totally floored!

A huge thank you to all the craftsters who submit their wonderful projects every day, you are an endless fountain of inspiration!
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Givers n Needers R8 on: August 26, 2010 03:31:37 PM
So, I've been looking at the MASSIVE piles of fabric and other supply items that really need a good home other than mine...

It's getting close to the holidays, so I figure it's as good a time as any to start giving Smiley  With everyone pinching pennies and keeping those purse strings pulled so tight you're getting blisters on your fingers, I think there would be a lot of appreciative needers out there.

Anyone looking to start up another round of Givers n Needers?  I've got a million and one things going on, or I would host it myself.  Who's interested in hosting or joining?
