101  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Waistbands on jeans/pants - reconstructing on: February 28, 2008 06:57:07 AM
I have a few pairs of jeans/pants that I would be able to fit in well, as the hip area is fine, but the waistband is a little too small to be comfortable.

I'm not too 'up' on the construction of most clothing items, but from what I can see when looking at them, the waistband appears to be a separate piece that was sewn in place at the top of the main body of the jeans/pants.  The band on jeans looks easier to take off, as it appears to be sewn OVER the main part...the band on pants appears to be sewn IN the pants.

How hard is it to remove a waistband, modify it to add at most 2 inches, then reattach?  Any other help on making this process easier?

TIA!  Grin
102  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Help with bags and purses on: February 23, 2008 01:45:22 PM
I need a little help on handbags.  I am new to this site and hope to find some good people that have great advice!

I have not sewn anything for a LONG time, and I was not very good when I did Smiley  When making a bag or purse, for lining it, do you sew the lining to the outer bag pieces, then sew it together?  Or, do you sew a lining bag, then sew an outer bag, then sew the 2 together?  What is the easiest?

I'm trying to start small to build my skills, and you can never have too many purses!
