1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: CLOSED - 2019 Make-A-Friend Revival: Miniature Version SO 4/23 & 5/23 on: May 13, 2019 05:49:42 AM
I'm some form of permanently exhausted pigeon, LOL!! I can stay up like crazy, but I can also head to bed early. I can get up early, I can get up late. Really just depends on the week or day's events which way I go on that. Weekdays, I work, so Sun-Thur I'm usually in bed by 10-11p and up at about 5:30am M-F. Weekends, I go to bed when I feel like, don't set an alarm, but 90% of the time I wake up at or before 8am, sometimes if it was a long night I may be in there until 9 or 10am. My days of sleeping until noon like I used to do as a teenager are LONG gone, unless I was literally up until 4, 5, or 6am...and those are 1 in a million times these days that I'm up that late now.

Because we rent, we don't personally have any kind of garden. Have been thinking of trying to do some container gardening, but I'm not sure what will really thrive other than some herbs...but...my good friend that lives about 10min away from us has a plot at her house and has saved us a couple rows to plant in this year! I'm stoked!! We've got a couple types of peppers, green beans, cucumbers (for making pickles), and one or 2 other things I can't seem to think of right now. My friend grows a lot of types of peppers and tomatoes, and last year we ended up getting a couple paper bags full of 'bumper crops' from her. Hoping we can trade and share again with what we're growing along with her and her family. I offered a few hours a week to come over and help tend the garden each week for a little planting space, so I think that's a wonderful trade Smiley

I'm almost ashamed to say it, but I've been so busy with life recently and have been feeling a bit down as well, that I haven't started crafting anything yet Sad I've never sent late, and once I hammer out what I want to do for any project (as well as start on it), I get done in record time! So, I'll be rolling on with things very soon, promise!

I'm all over the board with music/artist likes. I also have XM Radio in my car, that's where I spend the majority of my music-listening time. I listen to a lot of the new-school stuff on Ch2 (popular/top 40s pop/hip-hop mostly). I also like Classic Rewind, Ch25 (mostly 60s/70s/80s rock like Bob Seger, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, etc.), Lithium, Ch34 (90s alternative rock like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc.). I also like a lot of EDM like BT, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk.

My favorite song is Hotel California by The Eagles. Waayyyy outside of what one would think someone my age would listen to, as this group/song was out and popular long before I was even a twinkle in my parents' eyes!

I'm also a huge Doors and Jimi Hendrix fan, love Nine Inch Nails, too, and I grew up on country so there's no way I can ever hate it Smiley

See?? I'm all over the place!

Yesterday, a good thing that happened was getting to work from home and having our new washing machine get delivered and installed! The one that was in our rental home when we moved is was an 'as-is' appliance (no warranty to fix/replace like for the stove, micro, or dishwasher; no fridge provided, we bought our own when we moved in) broke on the last spin cycle on Saturday morning...so that chore was delayed a few days until yesterday. Clothes never spun dry after they agitated, rinsed and spun the first spin cycle...so...I had to run 5 mini-loads of 4-6 pieces of sopping wet clothing thru the dryer to dry the load that was in there when it gave up. Loving the new washer though, and husband's tax return came in and paid for it. Not really how we wanted to spend that money, we had other bills we wanted to pay ahead on with it...but, at least things coincided well to not put us on our ear financially with an unforeseen expense like this.

This past weekend was fun with a birthday party for one of my besties on Saturday night, and the clouds and overcast/rainy weather dissipated Sunday so I spent a couple hours chatting in the sunshine in her backyard with my friends when we all woke up (copious amounts of various alcohols were consumed by almost all, so 5 of the 7 of us that were there stayed the night at the birthday girl's house...yay, slumber party!). When I drove home I decided the sunshine and temperature in the low 70's was too good to waste going inside just yet, and left my car out of the garage to vacuum the inside and change out the all-weather rubber mats in my car that I use in the winter to my regular carpeted mats. I also shifted a few things around in the garage to make room for a large cooler I just bought to replace one with a broken handle that I donated to a local club I'm part of. Large coolers with missing handles and camping don't mix well to trying to drag said item out of the back of my car.

I had a list started somewhere for outlining crafts I wanted to make for each partner that's now gone AWOL...I'll need to make a new one and get rolling on the goodies!
4  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / UNITED STATES / Re: Craftster Meetup 2020 - Aloha Hawaii! on: May 06, 2019 04:38:50 AM
I'm also determined to drag DH with me.  We've never once had a vacation together.  We've done a few visits to family, but never gone on a trip that was just for us, in the 15 years we've been together.  So I'm planning on us coming out for about a week before the Meetup, and either let him do his own thing while I'm with you guys, or perhaps he heads home for the Meetup portion.

This sounds like a great idea on the come a week early for 'you' time with DH. Mine only gets a week for vacation right now, maybe by 2020 he will have a 2nd week of time banked by then, I'd love him to join me Smiley He's a crafter as well, though not yet a CRAFTSTER, lol. I need to get him to setup an account and post his projects soon. He's about to make a bird feeder for our backyard, actually! So, he may end up joining all of us and not just vacationing!

Thanks for that plug, CLM! I was thinking about that immediately after I saw kittykill post the challenge, and after reading thru it I still couldn't figure out if projects posted via swap galleries 'counted' to go in the hat Smiley

Having grown up in FL, I'm all about the storms! Kinda bummed we don't get a lot or as severe ones here in IN most of the time. I enjoy the thunder and lightning from afar. I was party to MANY a lightning storm as both a child and an adult from a darkened room with the blinds drawn all the way back from a large window.  I even dared to stand on a covered front entryway from the 2nd story of the house I shared with my ex and caught a crazy lightning storm outside and a few photos of it. How it danced through the clouds was amazing to see!

We were supposed to have seen Avengers: Endgame last night...but I'm stupid and forgot I bought the tix for Tues and not Thurs when my DH is off. Tues is the 'cheap tickets' day at AMC theaters, but I got mixed up and kept thinking I bought for Thurs because that's his day off...So my idiocy screwed us out of both $14 and seeing the movie. Guess I'll try again after we get paid again this coming Friday for a 5/14 showing...so far I've been successful not seeing or reading any spoilers online or on FB.

Just about anything sci-fi related like Star Trek TNG, Andromeda, Babylon 5, Supernatural has been run thru or is being run thru at our place. Currently watching The Village, 911, GOT, Good Doctor, This is Us, The Orville, and The Gifted. Many of these have wrapped their seasons, so I'll be waiting for next season to start back up. Also just started watching A Discovery of Witches on BBC America and I'm really into it!! Bring on ALL the gore, violence and sex over here...we're desensitized to everything long, long ago...and we don't yet have any children to shield from our heathen ways, LOL!

geekgirl1000100, I'm SO glad the cuff fit! I always 'guess' at stuff and hope it works because of the elastic loop, I think that gives a 'buffer' in the case of being too small. Button ANYTHING is on my list for makes! If I can incorporate buttons in or on it, I'm down for it. And yes, my little zip pouch is totally a little piece of FL sent to both partners. Stoked that your ATCs fit so well in it! Perfect! Like it was made JUST for that Smiley

Received from geekgirl1000100 the same day she received my package, I believe, but life kicked my rear end a bit toward the latter part of the week. So, here I am today to show off my goodies Smiley

The whole lot! Neat-o zip pouch that's made by a sustainable company that uses recycled materials and disadvantaged persons to create them! Tasseled bookmark that's TOTALLY me because I ♥ coffee so much and recently have started reading again. An AMAZING handmade gelli journal, more on that below. Assortment of her fave teas (a couple that my DH had his eye on and may have to fight me for, as I ♥ tea almost as much as coffee Wink HA!) Paint pen to write in/on aforementioned awesome journal. And last, but not least, a teeny tiny strategy game that's literally the size of a back of Juicy Fruit gum! I'm thinking this would be awesome for the next time my DH and I take the Amtrak to Chicago, as it's a silent game!

Behold all the colors in this journal!! LOVE it! I need to figure out something very important so this beauty doesn't go to waste sitting on a shelf!

Here's a few shots of some of my fave pages

Thank you SOOO much for everything! I'm going to shoot off a PM to each partner now with some more conversation and follow-up questions so I can get started crafting for our 2nd package ASAP Cheesy
