1  The New Yorker wall painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by kraixinxthexdark on: August 01, 2010 05:35:57 PM
My High School U.S. History teacher asked me to paint a version of his favorite magazine cover on one of the walls in his classroom. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to draw on the wall.  Cheesy It took me about two years to finish because it became really difficult to come in to paint once I started college. It really sucked for my younger brother who was in his class this year because he kept getting threatened with F's on his exams until I came in to work on it. I meant to post this a few months ago but forgot about it. Seriously, when I finish a project, I don't want to think about it again for a long time.

Well, here it is, a painting of the New Yorker cover from the FDR/Hoover election:

Thanks for viewing and have a pleasant day or evening!

2  Blue and black lace prom dress [yes, I realize I'm a few months late] [3 images] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kraixinxthexdark on: August 01, 2010 05:27:17 PM
I kept forgetting to post this baby on here. I'm glad I finally remembered because I seriously love this dress!

Now, lemme tell you something about the model (one of my great friends, <3):

I wanted to participate in the Joann's Own Your Look Prom Dress Contest this year, however, I couldn't make a dress for myself because I couldn't go to prom this year (I suppose that it seems right since I did graduate from High School approximately one year ago  Sad). The rules said I could make the dress for someone else attending prom. Therefore, I asked my friend Leah. She didn't have any clear idea about what she wanted her prom dress to look like and let me have free reign over the design and everything. I really wanted to do something avant garde because I really wanted to win (the prizes were money for school--which I NEED--and a Joann's gift card). She didn't want to go too crazy and cut me off at the knees when I mentioned wanting to put her in a petticoat. She hates pink and doesn't think that poofy, frilly things look good on her. After much toning down, I came up with this:

Forgive the sorta frumpiness of it all. I didn't have access to an iron before we took this pictures and it had been stashed deep within her closet for about two weeks. I don't know if you can tell, but I created the skirt out of several sort of bell shaped panels to create a scalloped edge. It created a nice sort of A-line shape which is hard to tell underneath the black lace. And can you believe that was my first time working with an invisible zipper? My mom also sews and kept telling me that they're wicked hard to do but I did it! Now she regrets not letting me go to a fashion school. Haha.

And here's the back:

The contest also required me to create one accessory. I love working with flowers so I created a corsage out of silk flowers. Her boyfriend/date helped me out a little to the best of his ability but I ended up just choosing something myself because she kept turning down his selections. I made him a matching boutonniere but sadly, I do not have a photo of that.  Sad).

I've always made my own corsages and she's always loved them. It made my day to see her happy face after presenting this to her. My mom was pretty excited too. Lol.

Thanks for viewing my first self-made dress ever and have a pleasant day or evening!

3  Lelouch Lamperouge Cosplay [first ever Craftster post with a project on it] in Costumes: Completed Projects by kraixinxthexdark on: August 01, 2010 05:06:36 PM
This is an old project I did (approximately one year ago). You see, I've been waiting until I had something worth posting onto this site because everyone else's posts are just simply AMAZING. Well, this year, I've been doing a lot of different projects and realized that I finally had some worth posting.

This one here is a Code Geass cosplay I made for my boyfriend for a Japanese media convention we went to (PMX, ever heard of it?). Anyways, he loves the character Lelouch Lamperouge and asked me to make him the school uniform bc I really wanted him to cosplay with me (is that love or what? <3). I did it for the sole purpose of seeing him in a uniform because I have this wild guy's uniform fetish. Unfortunately, I forgot to take into account that many other female cosplayers have that same fetish. >.< Had to beat them off with a stick and become that clingy girlfriend that I don't like to be but it was worth it to see him so smexy. Hope he makes your heart flutter like he made mine. <3

And now I present, Douglas as Lelouch (he's the one in black on the right):

The guy next to him is another cosplayer who is supposed to be the same character but in a different outfit. My guy looked wayy better though (there goes my pride  Roll Eyes). It helps that grew out his hair to match the character and is also freakishly skinny like most CLAMP characters. I can't do everything myself, you know?

Have a pleasant day or evening and thanks for viewing.
