51  I made a fairy! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by elowezil on: June 26, 2008 02:53:18 PM
My great-niece is 4 today and is really, and I mean REALLY into fairies, so I made her this fairy (+/- 10") out of lots of bits and pieces I had lying around.  the wings were stamped onto acetate using white Stazon ink.  Then I put doublesided adhesive on the back and sprinkled glitter on it and covered with another piece of acetate to sandwich the glitter in the middle, then cut around the edges.  It is on a stretchy bead-covered cord with a loop at the top so she can hang it in her window (definitely not play with it - it's not very robust!).  What do you think?  The pic is a bit blurry but IRL it's rather cute (I think) ...!

52  Re: I Love BUTTONS Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elowezil on: June 13, 2008 09:28:53 PM
My cool package of goodies came today from TreeTree.  Take a look ...
The green clay 'button' has a mirror on the back.  Ain't that clever?  Love the Tree of Life pendant, and the wire flower pin is so summery and cute.  The buttons are great too.  This was a great swap. Thanks so much TreeTree.

53  Where can I get these buttons? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by elowezil on: June 07, 2008 03:31:53 PM
I love the look of these vibrant jewel-colored mother-of-pearl/shell buttons but can't find out where to buy them (online).  Anyone got any links?  Thanks in anticipation ...

54  Re: I Love BUTTONS Swap Send by JUNE 20 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by elowezil on: May 28, 2008 02:32:32 PM
Wow Annette, your buttony creations are wonderful!  I'm almost finished my 2 projects for my pard'ner, now it's time to decide what buttons she would like.  Any hints treetree?  (I can't get into your MySpace for some reason so can't get any ideas there.)  I made this ring for my daughter a few days ago.

55  Re: Buttons in What the heck can I do with THIS? by elowezil on: May 23, 2008 04:48:37 PM
I love buttons too!  Just made this brooch a few days ago - felt, charms, buttons, etc.

Anyone else joining the button swap?  Go check out the Swaps board.  Looks like it's going to be great fun!

56  More birdies in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by elowezil on: April 20, 2008 02:37:24 PM
I'm hooked on making these polymer birds!  The cord is made from different fibers twisted together and then oversewn using a zigzag stitch.  I think it looks very 'earthy'.  It's autumn down here in New Zealand right now, hence the fall colors.  The ends of the cord are buried (glued) inside the glass bead on the brown one, as it's long enough to go over your head, but there's a silver clasp on the other one because the cord is shorter.

57  Wire heart pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by elowezil on: April 20, 2008 02:32:02 PM
I wanted this to be a brooch but decided on a pendant instead as there doesn't seem to be a suitable way to attach the pinback without being able to see it through the wire.  Anyway, I'm happy with the outcome.

58  Purple bird pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by elowezil on: April 17, 2008 08:07:26 PM
3 pendants I made today.  Purple bird is Fimo.  Tree trunk also Fimo, bird charms pewter, green tree is a big silk thread bead.  Red cord for glass bead heart made from 6 or 7 different red fibers that I wound together and then zigzag stitched to make a chunky 'chain'.

Thanks for looking!

59  Re: New Zealand Only Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by elowezil on: April 15, 2008 06:01:42 PM
And the winner is ...... ME!
Wow, fabulous package today from amc5 Amy.  Thank you SOOO much.  I just love everything in it and can't stop drooling.  Wish the weather was a tad cooler so I could wear the cool scarf today!  This swap was such fun - thanks big time MM for organizing.  I will certainly be up for the next one whenever it comes.  Amy, I will PM you separately as I have some ?? which I hope you will share the answers with with me (sorry, that's sounds like very bad English, but you'll know what I mean!).  Anyway, here are the pics for you to all drool over too.  (Sorry for the poor quality of the pics Amy - they really don't do your creations justice - but these are the best ones from +++ tries.)
Simply wonderful bookmark with cute wee bird (what is it made of Amy?) and a super gorgeous button pendant in the greeny greens that I just love, all displayed on one of the amazing hand embroidered teatowels:

3, count that 3, too-good-to-use teatowels, with beautiful hand embroidered/stitched leafy flowery designs, so stylish!

An oh-so-cute wee box with a clear sliding lid, containing 5 delightful and very special badges/brooches to go on the fantabulous scarf.  I just love the earthy tones of the scarf and the badges are going to look so good on it (roll on winter!).

A closer view of the gorgeous scarf with one of the badges on it.  Thanks for picking up on the colours I wear and the types of things I like Amy.  You got it all perfect!  I love badges/brooches - on Tshirts all summer and jumpers all winter.
This is so exciting!  Now that I've posted this I'm off to drool some more ...!
Thank you again hugely Amy.  You're a star Cheesy
