Finished!  Here's the second of the framed punched paper 'art' pieces for our guest bedroom.  (I posted the pic of the bird one yesterday.)

I'm now working on a second one like this of butterflies for the opposing wall.  Just scraps of paper.

24  Baby Ugg boots in Knitting: Completed Projects by elowezil on: March 29, 2011 08:33:08 PM
I am so proud!   Grin  I haven't knitted anything except a few simple straight scarves for 35+ years, but we have a new almost 5 month old grandson now and as we're heading into winter down here in New Zealand, I wanted to make him some Ugg booties.  I'm totally useless at following written instructions and patterns so needed a really simple one, and after trying and unravelling a few patterns I found on the net I decided to just make a very basic pair of booties from a book I found in the library, and then knitted the top 3 rows in white wool and added the white 'lines/seams' after I'd finished.  I then washed and felted them (also a first for me) as per instructions I found on a website somewhere, and they've taken 2 days to dry out in the sun, but this is the finished product and I couldn't be more excited!  So what do you think?

25  Re: NZ Only Swap! in The Swap Gallery by elowezil on: March 03, 2011 06:36:11 PM
It was well worth the wait ...!  Wow, thanks so much danger kitty for the amazing package I got today.  You were so spot on with everything, and who told you I needed an apron?  I think one of the kids stole mine when they moved out and I've been using a teatowel wrapped around my ample waist and pinned ever since.  I just love all the goodies, but my absolute fave has to be the button necklace.  I wear a lot of gray and black and it's going to be perfect to go with my 'wardrobe'.  You are so clever to have crocheted the lovely brooch and cuff too.  Definitely a top choice for winter cardies and jackets. The cardmaking goodies are great too, and I really needed a few good word stamps like you sent, and even looked in Spotlight yesterday but they didn't have any that caught my eye.  These ones are perfect though.  The pens, paper scraps, DIY puzzle (which I shall keep for my grandson when he's a bit older and stamp on it), wooden wings scrapbook, stickers and CD of embellishments/papers are all just my style.  The buttons - wow, what a great selection.  I can neve have enough buttons.  The fabric bits and felt are going to be so useful too, and I'm going to make a bib for my grandson with the cute rooster vinyl.  I'm so chuffed.  Thanks so much once again.  It was an awesome package and I feel so lucky to have had a partner like you who caught onto exactly what I'm about.  Hugs.  elowezil xxx

26  Punched paper art in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by elowezil on: February 26, 2011 08:37:48 PM
Framed punched birds.  The birds are die cut from patterned paper using a Cuttlebug.  I want to do the same thing with butterflies for the opposite wall (in our guest bedroom that I'm busy redecorating).

27  Hoop wall art in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by elowezil on: February 23, 2011 12:36:11 AM
I finally found enough needlework/tapestry hoops in thrift shops to start my wall art in our guest room.  What do you think?  Maybe 2 or 3 more on the left side?  I painted the frames in different colors first.

28  Oh deer! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by elowezil on: February 17, 2011 08:24:18 PM
I made this for my DD's BF who is a hunter.  They are about to move into a new house, which is rustic with lots of wood panelling, so I thought this would look really good on the wall.  Am so pleased at how it turned out.  I got the pattern online and it's made of foamcore board and wrapping and scrapbook paper.

29  Recycled man's tie in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by elowezil on: February 15, 2011 12:13:40 AM
This rolled rose is made from a .50c man's tie from a thrift shop.  Start rolling at the thin end of the tie, glue, roll some more, glue some more, until you get to the size flower you want, cut off the 'big' end diagnally and roll underneath the flower, then stitch and glue some more!  Let it dry before you adhere to the headband itself.  I make brooches the same way.  There are some really interesting fabrics used for ties.

I hope this is the right category for this?

30  Bitsa-this and bitsa-that necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by elowezil on: December 24, 2010 08:26:24 PM

This was time consuming to make but a lot of fun, and I always get loads of compliments when I wear it with a plain Tshirt or turtleneck.
