1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Love Bombs on: July 05, 2012 12:07:30 PM

I created these wooden heart brooches to put in love bombs based on the project at Kindness Over Matters http://www.kindovermatter.com/2012/07/diy-it-wooden-heart-brooches.html.

Her tutorial is much better than mine but I did snap a few 'in progress' photos.

Dropped my first 'bomb' last night at the mall! I love this!

2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Wrap Obsession on: June 22, 2012 10:57:40 AM
I have been on a huge wrap kick lately. They are just so perfect - little salads wrapped up in a delicious whole wheat shell! I make them in the morning and let them sit in the fridge to set up a bit.

This first one is a Nut and Agave wrap with cream cheese spread on the wrap, lettuce, walnuts, goat cheese, alfalfa sprouts, sunflower seeds, and cranberries/raisins (whatever I have on hand!)

This next one is a pretty low calorie wrap that I make with laughing cow cheese, lettuce, plum tomatoes, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts and a tablespoon of light Italian dressing.

Not quite as good as the first one but it's nice when I know I'm going out to eat for dinner and need to have a 'light' lunch!
3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Vegan Black Bean Brownie Fail on: May 14, 2012 08:39:57 AM
I've seen recipes floating around for years for Black Bean Brownies. I wanted to like these so much but they just came out ridiculously undercooked (and I cooked past the recommended time!). I used the recipe from the Happy Herbivore here: http://happyherbivore.com/recipe/vegan-blackbean-brownies/

If anyone has tried them or similar before with success please share your tips! I'm planning to try another recipe soon.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Potion Vial Necklaces on: March 07, 2011 06:04:19 AM
I really just needed an excuse to build a mini apothecary Smiley

Well, that and I have been very into herbs and gemstones lately. I've always leaned toward the pagan side spiritually and viewed 'magic' as a way to just help trick you mentally into really believing in what you want and therefore helping it to actually happen (think: The Secret, or the Law of Attraction).

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Romantic Shadowbox on: March 05, 2011 12:23:48 PM
This is the first time I've completed a shadowbox and I'm so happy with how it turned out! I used scrapbook paper, faux flowers, various jewerly pieces, buttons, a clipping from a Chicago 1938 newspaper, a vintage photo of PA, a small potion jar with rose hips and jasmine in it, and a cute little bird.

Comments/Critiques welcome! I'd like to do more of these and would love to know how I could improve or add to the next one.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Help finding frames! on: November 10, 2010 07:20:51 AM
So I've been working on embroidery/cross-stitch pieces like a crazy person. I was keeping them in their hoops but I really like how they look framed more. I see people on etsy and here putting them in these beautiful, ornate, brightly colored frames - any idea where they may be getting them?

I think they may even be painting them themselves, but I'm still curious if there is a way to get a bunch of them fairly cheap (broke as woah over here).

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Vegetarian friendly meat cuts on: October 27, 2010 08:42:22 AM
Inspired by this post from skaborsk

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Make it rain - somewhat NSFW on: October 27, 2010 06:50:32 AM
So a lot of my friends love to frequent strip clubs and this has to be one of my favorite phrases related to that establishment. It was also inspired by the latest episode of It's Always Sunny where the gang goes to one and has an intellectual debate over the meaning behind the phrase.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Love Machine on: August 24, 2010 09:05:15 AM
The image came from a retro Embroidery book. I felt that it had to be electric blue and am pretty happy with how it came out!

I also finshed this piece this week. A season that doesn't exist in Florida Sad

Any comments/critiques are welcome! I'm really trying to work on my embroidery skills - I love this craft! I'm also hunting for new image ideas ... I've been practicing tracing images with carbon paper and am stuck on new ideas for images to use.
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Important Executive on: August 22, 2010 10:34:13 AM
So I found this 1961 coloring book online and literally LOST it at work one day it had me cracking up!

So I decided to take a page and base a embroidery project on it ...

My result ...

Thoughts? I think I'll end up doing a few more from this book!
I was getting frustrated with how child-like the lettering was coming out, but then I decided I kinda liked it as it added to the whole 'coloring book' feel of it all.
