1  Oooo weeee ooohhhh i look just like who? Weezer inspired art in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by Lera-star on: March 04, 2009 11:03:38 PM
ok so this is just a painting and i think it looks much better in person by the way but here goes

first the actual painting

might not be the best but here is the story that goes with it,

as most of you may know i work full time at a supermarket. fun i know but did you know that faintly VERY faintly in the back ground most supermarkets have music playing. in fact my chain has it's own radio station. well every soo often we here the same songs and the other week every time i started work and finished it i herd Buddy holly by weezer which was awsome because i love that song. unfortunetly my ipod knew this and somehow i managed to get it reoccuring on it for three days strait.

so at this point i have my song my painting style is more an homage to the Clerks cartoon show crossed with my Retro-y style of drawing i slip into every now and then. when my brother saw just the marker art for the painting he asked if it was Dante in a mask because of this. oie to me. anywho that's how this came about

the painting it's self is of Buddie holly and he is singing Ooo wee oohhh i look just like buddy holly... yah it's backwards i know. also the colour verents are actully layers of paint to give depth but i failed at it. meh. i hope you like it guys

Hello my fellow craftsers. i'm cutting this one down to the last moment arn't i? oh well that's just me...and the fact that i'm on the family computer and not my baby (my mac is soooo pretty lol) to upload these pics is just taking longer.

ANYWHO when i read what this challange was going to be i just HAD to enter. why may your ask?

well i work at a grocery store. and while i was thinking of what to do while at work i kept noticing one thing...my eye was twitching.

no offence to any one here as i am SURE that you were all wonderfull customers to your cash people but i had some horrid customers. for instance i found out about this swap the day my puppy passed away two weeks ago. i some times won't come on for about a week to two weeks at one time due to work hours, crafting and a social life.

but onto the story of this bad customer. i was ringing him threw as i was telling a co worker about kirby (my puppy) he told me "it was just your dog, it wasn't like it was your father" my replay to him was no my father died 8 years ago and i proceeded to cry. it was at this stressful point that my co worker asked if i had a zen garden or somthing to help with my stress.

on that note it got me thing and thus i came up with my idea

my supplies.

hi all ok. heres my problem. i've recently started knitting again after a long hiatus. first learned in grade four just picking up again long. so about 11 years. i'm getting into the swing of things and started off with makeing my boyfriend a scarf. manly cuz in the kit a got it was the first project and the colours were of a favorit team of him so it worked out that way.

anyways my question is i started to knit the scarf and i'm a good ways along but um....my scarf kinda looks like it exsploded. if you don't know what i mean here is the picture

literally the blue part is fine. the white boom. now the boyfriend has seen it and still says he loves how it's coming along (we live 4 hours apart in two different countries so i really want him to have somthing hand made and stuff) but HOW DO I FIX THE BOOM LOOKING PART? will it fix itself do i have to start from scrach dose it give caricter what?

so yah help? please? i'll give you a cookie

8  3 Hand made books!!!! please tell me what you think (pic big sry) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Lera-star on: March 29, 2008 01:20:21 PM
hey there all! Lera here poping my perverbial Craftster cherry. well at least in the posting of the craft-y stuff department.

anyways what i will be posting here are a few hand made books that i have done over the years. two from my first year of collge (i think i made about 6 or 7 total that year. some are lost may they rest in peice) and one that i have done just rescently. i do love book makeing along with lots of other crafts. but i hope i can produce some good things to show yall

ok the first up is probably to second or thrid of the books i made in college. as a graphic design student in my college we are tought how to bind our own books. do most of us remember? errrrk....sortta. but yah anyways. this book is a saddle stich book. produced with the fallowing items: Milboard for the cover, japanese paper for the cover, senew to sew up the bindings, fabirc tape, glue and cartrage paper. big list but worth it. plus i got an "a" on my book ^_^

the front

the inside

and standing on it's side

(forgot to mention some of the pics are wonky sorry)

The second book from school, again milboard, japanese papper fabric tape but this time we used black cardstock for the inside and bound it with screws. it was really fun. again this project got me an "A"

the front

the inside

on its side

The last book i'm posting is one i made durning the week. it's to "help me live healthyer" i love it. not as clean or great as my other two but it's fun and thats what matters. the covers are panted canvas decorated with scrapbook paper cut outs. the filling is card stock it's bound together by tigertail wire and clasps, and has a tie to keep it closed

the front

the inside (with matching bookmark)

on it's side w/book mark

finally here are all three books together and i am sorry for any blurry pics. please let me know what you think
