1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: icelandic hat and fingerless gloves on: August 21, 2010 04:40:20 AM
Thanks! I think it has to do with the way they spin the wool. You buy it in bulk and it's 1ply, very easy to pull apart.. I made it into 2 ply by doubling up the strands, which made it stronger but I'd have to be careful how hard I pulled the wool..

Oh, ok. That makes sense, it just isnt spun very tightly.  Thanks for explaining that to me!  Smiley
Actually its unspun wool, thats why its so loose  Wink
You can read about it here http://istex.is/default.asp?sid_id=20010&tre_rod=001|003|006|005|&tId=1

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Pikkuveli cardi. on: April 04, 2010 05:44:02 AM
Im so happy with this sweater, totally fell for this pattern the moment I saw it.
Its called Pikkuveli and I bought it from the designer on Ravelry. The yarn is called Perfect and is from Sandnes yarns, used knitting needles nr. 4 and 4.5 (european sizes). I decided right away to use grey as the main colors and when I saw the red I had to use it, think it goes well together and I love red for my boy  Cheesy
The buttons are at least 30 years old and have spent their days locked away in my grandmothers button box so it was about time to use them.

I learnt many new things while doing this cardigan like doing the honeycomb pattern, the I-cord buttonband and using short rows to make the back higher than the front. Im even thinking about putting some fabric on the inside so my boy can use it as a jacket this summer  Grin
Anyways, here it is. Thanks for looking.

Happy boy in his new sweater

Here you can see a button, love the retro look of them. Also love that little boy with the dirty face  Wink
