1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Every Sir Mattis needs his Field Mouse on: December 10, 2009 09:06:45 PM
I'm pretty sure this project goes here...
My boyfriend has a blanket that's been with him for a very long time, and it's getting kind of ratty. This year I decided to make him a tie blanket with his favorite colors. However, that's not cool enough, nor personalized enough. We have nicknames for each other (Sir Mattis, and I'm his Field Mouse) and are both obsessed with our ancestry. He's actually thinking about getting his family crests tattooed on his shoulders. I decided, being a knight and all, he needed a crest to wear on the battlefields of Call of Duty and Halo. I designed this and am quite pleased with how it turned out. I'm also pleased that the present barely cost anything. The fleece was on sale and I had extra fabric lying around for the crest.
Wow, I'm long-winded. Here it is...

Close up of the crest.

Fuller picture.

The blanket should cover both of us Smiley
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Geektastic Tree on: December 10, 2009 09:00:30 PM
Hey all! This is my first post, though I'm a seasoned stalker of this forum. This year was the first I've had a tree in my apartment. My mom got it for me during an after-Christmas sale last year and we didn't realize that it was so tiny. Tiny but mighty is what I say. I didn't have ornaments for it either, so in my spare time (which was made by forgoing homework) I made some ornaments. I also decorated some presents as well - the outside has to be as fantastic as the inside, right?

So, without further ado...

I made a tribble (from Star Trek) and a ton of snitches. They're really easy to make and are great gifts for HP fans. I made a larger tribble for a friend.

For a friend who is actually making the 7 hour trek to see me as I type, along with my boyfriend.

Tribble, up close. I wish I could figure out how to get one of those vibrate-y things in there. For authenticity.

I made another friend homemade coffee liqueur and used a Starbucks coffee liqueur bottle. Obviously I didn't want to falsely advertise the contents so I decorated it with scrap fabric and a magazine cutout. Oh, and a glittery, fabulous snitch.

I hope you like my stuff!
