2  ~2 new poppets!~ in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by violette28 on: May 24, 2008 11:19:20 AM
Its about time I posted this poppet girl! I made her way back in March but something wasn't quite right. So I put her away for a few months and not (because of the poppet swap) I decided to fix her up. She got new hair, a shorter haircut and rejoined. I'm really happy with her now despite her flaws!

She is made with micro suede, which stretched a lot when i stuffed her. Because of this she is significantly taller then my other girl.

I felt bad about neglecting her, so I made her another dress from craftewoman's halter dress pattern!

She still doesn't have a name. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

Also I made my 1st mini! She is a mouse named Clara and currently is travelling as part of the Little visitors swap!
Her mini gallery for the swap is here .

Thanks for looking! They were so much fun to make!

Well... I made Linus a blog. He didn't want a myspace, but was okay with a blog.  Roll Eyes It is HERE
I think he was actually pretty excited about it.

I also found my camera cord and I posted an update on him, page 2 (more detailed in his blog)

I will be posting most of the updates in his blog in order to keep some of the pictures a secret. Smiley

Professor Linus has a blog!

May 11
Yesterday Linus and I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom with my school choir.
We saw a lot of animals and got to see a whale/ dolphin show.

I did get a few strange looks from my school friends when I took Linus out of my bag, but it was worth it to take this photo:

This past weekend, Linus and I went to the local gem fair! We had a great time browsing the isles of beads and various gems.

April 29

This weekend Linus and I paid a visit to a local town, Sebastapol. I danced in a parade and we stopped at the best ice cream place I've ever been to on the way home.

More details in his blog

April 18
Professor Linus arrived today!

He came with his bio, contract, a pair of glasses and a little backpack!

He was quite hungry when he arrived, so I shared a bowl of homemade soup with him. (Its very good!  Wink)

Clearly he was one hungry penguin!

I let him take a nap after that.

After seeing Major Grizzly looking at her picture, Clara told me she needed a new spring/ summer dress (she said the other one was too dark  Roll Eyes).
Of course I had to post it here for everyone to see!

Anyway, today I dropped her off at the post office because I was paired up with Oops creations early. She is going on vacation and wanted to take her visitor too.  I volunteered to send Clara out a few days earlier and now she is flying to Massachusetts!
Here she is taking a few last breaths of fresh air!

Yes, I did make her a little bag to take along. And yes, I did embroider her name on it.
Professor Linus better be ready to be spoiled by me with new clothes and accessories when he arrives!

6  Re: The Givers and Needers Swap Round 2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by violette28 on: April 14, 2008 08:30:08 PM
I received from Vecr81 today! I didn't have the greatest day, and this is just what I needed to cheer me up! The flat rat box she mailed everything was stuffed!

On top there was some wool, which I can use in needle felting! Really beautiful colors plus I've been out of white for ages, but I don't have money to buy more right now. She also included zippers! I needed these as well, how did you know?!? Also in this picture is the card she sent and a bracelet with the prettiest green beads!

Next, yarn! Lots of yarn! I want to learn to knit and improve my crochet, so this is prefect! I can use some of this for poppet hair too!  Grin Also there are 3 craft magazines which I can't wait to read, and my first pair of knitting needles!

Finally at the bottom of the box was some fabulous fabric! Here it is after I ironed it all. (Thats one of my favorite parts of getting new fabric, I love to iron it! Is that weird?  Undecided Tongue Cheesy) I usually don't sew super big projects, so the amount of each design is perfect!

Thank you vecr81!!! I love it all!!
Now to get working on your thank you present!!  Grin Wink

7  Re: Once You Pop Round 6 - Spring Edition GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by violette28 on: April 11, 2008 04:13:10 PM
Well, As soon as I got around to taking pictures, I lost the cord to my camera, so I had to use my brothers. The pictures Nezbutt posted look much better anyway so I will only add one more.
I have been wearing the charms as necklaces and I also wore the flower clips a few times. Every day I wear them, get compliments all day! My friends absolutley love the snail and they all want one now!

Anyway, These are my 3 poppets. I made the big one (norman sized) about a month ago, and Nezbutt made the small pink one for me for this swap (she has been named Rosie). I think its funny how close their skin colors are to eachother! I didn't notice it at first, until I put them together.  The mouse mini I made this week because I was so inspired by the mini I received!
I am so glad this was my 1st swap! It was an awesome experience.

I'm finishing up my questionnaire now, but I yesterday I took some better pictures of my LV and I thought I should post them!

She has decided her name is Clara.  Smiley

Enjoying the sun.

With her poppet sisters Nadya and Rosie. The small pink one (Rosie) was made by Nezbutt and is what inspired me to make a mini!

Meeting the puppy.

I think its a mouse thing.  Roll Eyes

Now I'm off to finish that questionnaire!

Today I finished my LV! (That is, if I am approved once I submit my questionnaire) She is a mouse mini poppet, about 9 1/2 inches tall.
She is still unnamed, but I will post it once she has told me.

Would anyone like to host her?

10  needle felted fairies and friends! (IMG heavy) in Felting: Completed Projects by violette28 on: March 18, 2008 12:36:35 PM
I have been needle felting for quite a few years. It's not what you'd expect from a 15 year old, but I really enjoy it. Smiley
I learned when I went to work for my brother's friend's mom who is a local artist in my town. She makes the most gorgeous fairy dolls and doll houses, a very talented lady. Anyway, she taught me to needle felt but she became really frustrated because I wasn't learning it quickly enough for her. *sigh* I was 13 and had never heard of it before I started helping her how can I compare to her 10+ years of needle felting?

After I stopped working for her I realized that she taught me something very unique and there was no reason I shouldn't continue making things.
These are fairly old creations, but I don't think they're half bad. What do you think?

These pictures really don't do them justice. I never realized how hard photographing anything needle felted really is.

One of my very first fairy dolls plus a butterfly

My first attempt at making animals.. .

All of the dolls have wire inside their bodies, so they can be posed

The Halloween series: I make one for my mom for her birthday every year (its on Halloween!).  The one on the right is the very first fairy I made.

Christmas presents a few years ago

These are little angel tree ornaments.  I made 6ish of them in all different colors and gave them to friends and family for Christmas. One even went all the way to my penpal in Poland! They have little wire halos, but you can't really see them here.

Thanks so much for looking! I will appreciate any feedback you have, regardless of whether or not you needle felt!
