1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Marion Smith inspired art journal on: March 21, 2011 05:30:55 PM
I've been watching some of the Prima Live videos lately and really love Marion Smith's projects. She made a couple of altered art journals lately and I was inspired to make my own.

The cover made with canvas art board.  The entire journal is bound using my bind it all.

There are more details on my blog. I'll also be posting more pages there as I finish them.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / ATC minibook-Valentine themed on: February 05, 2011 02:41:17 PM
I created a little ATC minibook for a challenge.  It was really quick and easy to make. Usually I sit and think about the things that I want to make before starting, but this time I just went with it. I'm pleased with the result.  I should have scanned them before they were bound. The photos aren't the best.  There are more details on my blog.

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Valentine's Card on: February 06, 2010 10:38:38 AM

A card for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day.  I wanted something that wasn't all red and hearts. I think he will like it.

The poem was something I found in the Valentine's board in this post:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149914.0

I'm pleased with how it turned out.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Gift box + 52 Things on: February 04, 2010 03:43:14 PM
I finished a gift box for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day today. I covered a box that had candy in it with scrapbook paper and decorated it. I was trying to make it a bit more manly and less cutesy hearts and cupid.  I think he will like it. Inside is a 52 Reasons I love you and some of his favorite chocolates.

For the 52 Things, I was going for a handmade, kind of funky look.  I really like it. All I had to bind it was green rings.  I modpodged the front and back with scrapbook paper, and used my Xyron sticker maker to put the handwritten reasons on each card.

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / 5 1/2 hr Throw (Lion's Brand) pattern help needed on: November 27, 2009 06:16:52 PM

I'm trying to figure out a pattern I picked up for free from Michaels.

The first row is mostly a series of V stitches (dc, ch1, dc).  I understand this row.  The next part is what I don't quite understand. The pattern says:

Rows 2-40:Ch 3(counts as 1 dc), turn, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each chain-1 sp across,....

The bolded part is what I'm having trouble with.  What does the "one space across" mean?  If I were to put a v-stitch into each chain from the previous row, then I believe that I would be increasing and end up with a wonky blanket.   Am I putting a v-stitch where there is the space from the previous row's v-stitches?

Thank you for any help offered Smiley

How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!

Try to imagine a chain.  The first link is the first person whose theme list is on page 1 (Person A) (this will be the organizer as will the last wish closing out the swap)
Now, we want to put another link in the chain.  People will read that list and see if they want to make an ATC from that list.

Someone (Person B) will claim Person A for an ATC made in the theme of one of the items on their theme list.  They post a reply to the thread that says I claim Person A for a [fill in the blank] ATC.  This is my X claim (however many times they have picked someone for example, "this is my fourth claim, with one sent, and three received, (meaning that this is the fourth claim they've made, one is in transit to it's destination, and three of the items have been received by the people they previously claimed).  Also be sure to add your location to your list of themes so that people can decide if they want to claim someone overseas or not.  You  may want to add anything that you may not like to receive.

IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE!  This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received.

Then comes the fun part!  After the introduction, Person B is the last link in the chain, and they post their theme list!!!   Be sure to PM the person you have claimed for their address.  Or you can PM the person who claimed you and send them your address.

I claim Person A for a zombie ATC.  This is my 3rd claim, 2 sent, 1 received
I live in Massachusetts, USA .  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.   My themes are:
1)   funny foods
2)   polka dots
3)   monster movies
4)   The letter E
5)   cats

Along comes Person C, who claims Person B for something on their list and the chain is built, link by link.

When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last theme list in the chain.  You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last wish list posted.

Friends of Craftster are allowed 10 claims at one time, others are allowed 7 wishes.  If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one claim.  When that claim is received you can then claim the number of times you are allowed depending on your membership status.   If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.   You DO NOT need a DCN for this swap, but if your ATC is not received, you will need to resend.

Become a Friend of Craftster!  Go here: https://www.craftster.org/subscribe.

If you are at your limit of claims, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***

Let's keep the quality of work high people!  Send something you would like to receive if you were the recipient.

Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last claim should add to their theme list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them. Please make sure this is not you!

After receiving your ATC, be sure to post a picture of it in the gallery.  You will not receive feedback until you do.  If you are having camera troubles, be sure to tell the person who has claimed you so that they can take a picture before sending.

Communication is a GOOD thing.  If you are having issues, please tell the organizer and the person you have claimed.  Poor communication will be noted in feedback.
8  UNITED STATES / Indiana / Lafayette knitting group at Barnes and Nobles on: June 07, 2008 04:25:54 PM
I'm not a knitter, but I thought I'd pass along the information.

I was at the Barnes and Nobles at the Lafayette mall on Saturday and saw a sign that said there's a knitting group that meets at the bookstore. I didn't catch the times though.  The sign was to the left of the doors visible from the outside if anyone wants to have a look the next time you're out that way.
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Simple denim and cotton messenger bag on: March 09, 2008 04:11:01 PM
This was my first attempt at sewing a bag.  I used a pattern I bought from Jo-Anne's.  Unfortunately, my cat got a hold of some of the pattern pieces and I threw everything out, so I can't tell you which one.

It's made from denim and cotton, and contains one simple pocket on the inside.  It's hard to see, but the cotton fabric is a pale blue with blue and green circles.

And a shot of the inside with a book. Smiley

I ran out of the cotton so there's a denim strip on the inside too.  Smiley
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Clover Necklace and Nature Bracelet on: March 02, 2008 05:00:23 PM
This bracelet was inspired by the glass leaf beads I found.

The necklace and bracelet don't look out of shape when they're worn.  I couldn't get them to sit right on the card.  The little beads are bright green, which didn't show up well in the photo.
