1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I Knit a Brick Wall! on: December 17, 2011 02:25:03 AM

I was at work on day and asked a co-worker how she was doing.  She told me she needed a "new brick wall".  So I knit her one -- in pillow form -- safe for beating her head against this one!
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Laundry Detergent Bottles/Fabric Softener Bottles on: September 18, 2011 05:59:27 PM
If you know anyone who boats (small boats like canoes, skiffs, etc) they can use them as bailers.  Leave the cap/lid attached, cut off the flat bottom, and they can use them to scoop water out of the boat.
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / "Disposable" Contact Lens Containers on: September 16, 2011 12:31:27 PM

I have an eye problem and I need to change my contacts daily.  It kills me to toss the containers.  The box says they can be recycled but I still think there must be a crafty use for them.  I do have 2 ideas but am looking for some not so cumbersome -- string them together with jump rings and make a lampshade or curtain.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: The $2500 baby blanket on: February 28, 2009 01:27:18 AM
Thanks!  Emma (the baby) finally got her blankie today and it looks even better with her on it!  Of course I didn't have my camera  Shocked

I am one of the most impatient people I know but I was determined to make something that would last her past her toddler years, and maybe even make it to college with her one day.  The pattern is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it.  Unfortunately, when I bought it, I thought that I would knit the blocks separately and then stitch them together.  I thought it would be a good project to tote around with me.  However, you knit into the previous block, constantly adding onto the project.  It became quite heavy, akward, and warm near the end.  That said, I think I might be convinced to make the smaller version in the future.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / The $2500 baby blanket on: February 27, 2009 10:59:54 AM
I call it this because it took me so long to make it.  If I had been paid my work salary while I was making it, I would have been paid $2500!!!

The pattern is "Rambling Rows Afghan" by Cottage Creations (you can get it through Lion Brand's website).  It comes in 3 sizes, this is the medium.  I repeat, it took FOREVER!  But it was kind of fun Smiley

the colors kind of washed out in this one with the flash....
