1  Marauder's Map hand painted shoes in Completed Projects by lancmaltby on: October 19, 2015 06:55:14 AM
I had the great opportunity to swap with jillybeans for the Back to Hogwarts Swap round 5 this month. After some internet Pinterest stalking I discovered that she pinned a pair of painted Marauder's Map shoes to her Harry Potter board. I had never painted shoes before so this was my very first attempted at making them for her. I did some research on what type of paints to use and found that Angelus Acrylic Leather Paint works best being that it's waterproof and won't crack or peel.
I found few examples of other people's version of the Marauder's Map use as inspiration and here is what I came up with.

First I painted both shoes to look like aged scroll paper / then I drew the map design on with a pencil. Using at least 5 burgundy 05 ultra thin Micron pens I went over the lines paying close attention to the map details.

I painted the middle of the map with more paint and completed the words with white paint.

I had so much fun painting these for her Smiley

Hello all - Its my time to share my most AWESOME swap package from jellybeans! She is my new swap BFF - I love love love x3 everything she made for me and I am so excited to share:

First I opened the package with the best t-shirt in the world. Harry Pugger / she hand painted the pug image for me! After some internet stalking she found that I love pugs - this is so great!

Dobby the house elf - awesome! Her daughter had a dance party with Dobby!

A great and powerful quote from the wise Dumbledore

To honour the Slytherin in me. jellybeans made a cowl scarf on a loom which she used the seed stitch! - I love the colors - so perfect!

And lastly and a favorite / a beautiful Slytherin bracelet.

I just want to say thank you so much for all the hard work that went into making me all this wonderful Harry Potter gifts
I look forward to future Back to Hogwarts swaps Smiley

4  Dr. Who 4 and Tardis // dog costumes in Halloween Costumes by lancmaltby on: October 11, 2013 01:10:50 PM
I just finished this week my two little puggies halloween costume. This years theme is Dr. Who // one of my all time favorite shows ever!! I  knitted the scarf for Bailey ( he's turning 13 this years ) in reincarnated Dr 4 colors. Found a great little dolls black top hat at one of my local craft stores that I changed the shape of and then added some curly brown hair for the final touch. Reba is the Tardis // I made her a simple dog coat that I then quilted the tardis door shape to the front, I then sewed a little hat to look like the top of the tardis. I had so much fun making this for them!! Now they are ready for our local dog park halloween dressup party next week! Enjoy and happy halloween

rougeraven zine is about her journey for each month in a year to have a daily creative project. She had a list for each month what she was going to do like :: film 1 second of film each day for a month, embroider something each day and bake something each day? I love this creative journey!!! I myself have been in a creative funk so this zine was a wonderful eye opener and has got me thinking too what can I do each day to be creative!

Here is where she embroidered something each day!

She also had an envelope of goodies at the end!

Thanks so much rougeraven

7  Winter season bookmark swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by lancmaltby on: November 11, 2012 07:19:47 AM
Winter season bookmark swap

I wasn't thinking that this would be themed for the holidays but more for the winter season. There is already a lot of holiday themed swaps going on right now.

With the time change  - it's getting dark around 5:00pm and who doesn't like snuggling up to a good book with some yummy hot coco on a cold winter night...right!

We could have 4 partners to swap with ...

This is a easy swap and always fun to do! I haven't seen this as a new round started in a while so I thought it put this out there to see if there was any interest.

Thanks for looking!!!

9  The Facts of Life Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by lancmaltby on: August 22, 2012 10:39:42 AM
Wanted to see if there is any interest (thinking of opening this swap up in mid October) in doing a Facts of Life Swap This was one of my favorite show of the 80's and still love to watch episodes when I can catch them on TV.

Each partner will pick their favorite character:
 Edna Garrett
 Blair Warner
 Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey
 Natalie Green
 Jo Polniaczek

Then the swap partner will craft items that represent their partners character. Going to set it up to be a 5 point swap :

Large= 3 points
Medium=2 points
Small=1 point

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

Would love to know if there is any interest out there before I post this swap active.

Let me know your thoughts

You take the good you take the bad
you take them both and there you have
the facts of life
the facts of life
There's a time you've got to go
and show your grow'n and now you know
the facts of life
the facts of life

When the world never seems
to be living up to your dreams
and suddenly you're finding out
the facts of life are all about you

It takes a lot to get them right
when you learning the facts of life
learning the facts of life,
learning the facts of life
