11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Project advice? on: May 12, 2008 06:11:11 PM
I bought some beautiful yarn (woolen, unplied, variegated, worsted-ish weight) on sale, without a project in mind. I would like to knit it into a big square, to use as a shawl or perhaps to throw over the back of a couch. I was thinking of doing this with large needles (17s?), and possibly with fringe around the edges.

Does anyone have advice, or a pattern like this? What kind of stitch would be best? Garter or seed?

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitty leftovers vest on: April 25, 2008 10:58:43 AM

The yarn end in the armpit has since been taken care of Smiley

This was intended to be a stash-buster. Unfortunately, I miscalculated and ended up with more yarn than I started with. But I got a warm and neat-looking vest out of it!
13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Glue question on: March 21, 2008 08:44:02 AM
Paper crafts aren't really my thing, but I would like to glue some fabric onto the plastic cover of a binder, and I'm wondering what type of glue would be the best. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks.

The Scoop Neck Vest by Blue Sky Alpacas. I substituted Lion Brand microspun and Paton's Lacette because I'm a cheapskate, but it turned out beautifully. It is also very warm.

15  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Asheville, NC! on: February 09, 2008 08:48:31 AM
My name is Amanda.  I go to UNC-Asheville (about to graduate), I'm 21, and I'm studying criminology and math. My roommate encouraged me to join this site, and I am looking forward to participating in swaps and such!

I knit, make jewelry, and sew, but I am open to learning new crafts as free time permits...
