hi everyone...wow this challenge was harder than i thought!  just trying to pick a song----uhhhh, but i chose a song that always puts me in a good mood!  its bicycle race by queen---its kind of a long song so here is the chorus....

All I wanna do is
Bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my
Bicycle races are coming your way

So obviously i crafted a bike!  I made a quilt with this pretty cute bike as the center!

I had a ton of fun making this project.....its been so long since i have quilted anything.....it was great to get back to it!

Don't forget to Vote!  And if you don't know this song you should seriously go get it....its a great song to listen to while you drive on nice spring day with all your windows down!

2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 34 ENTRIES / COKE TAB BOX (soda tab box if your not from the south!) on: January 01, 2009 05:51:00 PM
Hi my fellow crafters and happy new year!  I was super excited about this challenge when it was posted...I have been collecting coke tabs for like a year and finally have an outlet!  ----yes yes I'm from the south----  I made a jewelry box out of coke tabs!  It took a bit if working to make it stable.  First I tried yarn and it was way to flimsy so then I got out my trusty tool kit and used wire and pliers to kind of weave the wires in between the tab holes!  I'm so excited it totally worked!  So without further ado I present my coke tab jewelry box!

and i forgot to mention its totally 100% recyclable!

Here is the box all tied up with a bow

another picture

the inside with a Christmas treat!  i used left over yarn as the cushion

and another picture with everything out so you can see the sides and the bottom

Thanks for looking and don't forget to vote!  Grin
3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 33 ENTRIES / The Very Hungry Caterpiller....and Cocoon and Butterfly! on: December 04, 2008 07:46:03 PM
Hi everyone---here is my entry!  My husband loves loves loves books by eric carle so we decided to get my cousins baby the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' which lines up great with my entry!  I made a caterpillar that is reversible side is the caterpillar and the other side is the cocoon!  And I also made the butterfly that comes out of the cocoon!  Its the whole process! (except the eating.....i still have some time that might happen before christmas)

The caterpillar

its reversable!!

kind of a weird picture but----in the process of reversing

All reversed cocoon!

The cocoon and the new Butterfly!

A Butterfly!!

I really wanted to take all the pictures outside and hang the cocoon in a tree---but sadly it has rained like all week so no good....but I think you get the idea

I also tried really hard to make it look very child like.....not paying too much attention to straight lines....tough to do especially for a perfectionist!  And my biggest influence was of coarse Eric Carle and his wonderful book The Very Hungry Caterpillar  check it out!  http://www.eric-carle.com/home.html

Thanks!  Dont forget to Vote!
4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 31 ENTRIES / TOMATO HAT on: October 02, 2008 08:19:04 AM
I totally love project runway (I'm sure I'm not alone!) and I totally love this challenge!  I wanted to make something with these guidelines-----1.make everything you see in my project edible items and 2.stay away from the table cloths!  So I used grape tomatos, cucumber, a little lettuce, wire and fishing line.
here are my supplies:

i only spent about $6.00!

I took each tomato and threaded them on to the wire to make the hat part.  Then took the fishing line and connected all of the wire tomato rings.  And then I sliced a tomato and cucumber then added some lettuce around the edge to make the broach!  Here are some pictures:
One FAB hat!!!

some close ups

i just tought this looked funny--hanging out in the fridge on top of a bowl

I had so much fun doing this challenge---but my head was kinda sticky and smelled like a big tomato when I was done!  But it was totally worth it!  Thanks for looking and don't forget to vote!

ok so i didnt want to be wasteful with my edible hat so...i hung it in a tree so the birds and squirrels could eat the tomatos!  (dont worry i clipped all the fishing line out so no animal would eat it by accident) here is a picture of it in the tree!!!

5  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / ICE CUBE COZIES! on: September 03, 2008 05:59:30 AM
I was super pumped about this challenge when it was posted!  I love the idea, ironic cozies.  So put my thinking cap on and thought--a cozie is used to keep something warm...and ice never needs to be warm...thus irony and my submission!  It was so much fun making my Ice Cube Cozies---i loved the look on peoples face when they asked what i was making!  Priceless!!!  ok so now the pictures...

them in the ice bucket---warm and cozie!

7  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 28 ENTRIES / Boring Sewing Chair to Furry Monster Chair! on: June 02, 2008 07:42:06 AM
So I was totally pumped about this challenge when it came up because I was already planning on redoing my old sewing chair....I had a few ideas but at the last minute I wasn't happy with any of them.  So I gave up on it....until I came to my senses and realized I needed to do what I love which is plushies!  So I made my old hard sewing chair into a soft (I added foam) furry plushie chair, claws, teeth and all!  Thanks for looking and don't forget to vote!  Smiley

my chair before I started---boring plain white

my monster chair!  so furry and wonderful!

a detail of the teeth and leg and foot....I just love the feet I think its my favorite part! (oh and awesome side note...I can still roll it around!  I made the feet so the wheels come through!)

monster chair next to my sewing machine....maybe I need to do something with that yardsale desk........

OH I almost forgot my inspiration was the chair from the pee wee herman show.....I cant remember her name.....This challenge was so much fun!  I think I need to cover my couch in fur next!

9  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 26 ENTRIES / Totally space aged Umbrella Dress on: April 01, 2008 12:52:41 PM
Hi everyone!  This is my first craftster challenge entry and I am so excited!!!  My favorite thing to buy at the dollar store are umbrellas, they are so useful, and only a dollar so if it breaks or you loose it, no biggie!  I decided to take my love for these things and construct a summer dress and a shrug!  This is my final design (it took me many tries and redesigns to get it right)  I copied the dress from one  in my closet and the shrug just kinda came out of my head.  I love it because it kind of looks space age!  After I was done I thought the shrug needed a little something more, so I did an applique umbrella on the back.

here is the front

and the back

close up

very close up
sorry this one is kind of blurry!

another way to wear it

I wanted to keep the integrity of the umbrella so you could still tell what it was made out of!  So if you look close you can see the triangles!  Thanks for looking!!
