1  Pizazz-Adding Recycled Magnets in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Kittyraja on: December 07, 2010 09:42:11 PM
So, I kind of love clipping things out of magazines, and I have a tin full of stuff I've collected over the years.

They get used occasionally in handmade cards or little collage projects, but mostly they just sit there, being cute. I recently acquired some SWEET magnet tape and decided to try it out by making a couple of sets of magnets.

Thanks for looking! I think these turned out pretty cute and hopefully they'll make great stocking stuffers.

Okay!...So, I got a very cute package from Spooky.Kitty.

Here's the whole thing, unwrapped:

I got a fabulous Mr. Toast clock...I LOVE him!...and she even included a battery...thank you!
A stand for my crochet hooks/etc.
A Hello Kitty picture frame
Some gorgeous flowers for my hair
A pretty shrinky peacock necklace, with a matching hair clip (I wore them to work today!)
Pink dino and square resin hair clips
CUTE mummy stuffie
Some velvety iron-ons
Monster 'crafty ideas' notepad (whoops, didn't make it into the picture!), with matching shrinky pendant
lace slave bracelet, with bells and beads
bare mineral makeup (too light for me too, Kitty Wink)
and last but not least, a beautiful embroidered peacock iron-on, which obviously took forever to make....it's gorgeous...thank you!

(if I missed anything, please feel free to post some pictures of your own! I had already started putting things to use when I remembered to grab the camera.)

And a few closeups:

A sakura hair pin, with skully cupcake shrinky!...this is really cute...I've worn it twice so far and gotten plenty of compliments. I must have taken 15 pictures of this thing and couldn't get ONE non-blurry one...grrrrr!

Monster journal...I like the ribbon!

Matching monster necklace (using the mummy for background...lol)

Mummy stuffie!...rrrrraaarrrggggggghhhhh. Very cute...very doomy...love the eyes (and the neon green thread!)

And of course, the henna-style peacock embroidery. I'll save this for something special, definitely. It's beautiful, and very well done!

Great swap...thanks again, Spooky.Kitty....I appreciate all the hard work you put into my package!

Yay! What a fabulous swap this has been...I'm so excited to see the rest of everyone's loot! (Mine included...woohoo! tomorrow is ship-out day!!)

Well, now that Spooky.Kitty has posted, (great collage skillz, btw Wink) I don't think she'll mind if I add a few shots I took, pre-shipping?

Ok, so first, I made a superdoomy coloring book, which I had a helluva time binding...lol
Here's a shot of the scalloped pages...I used some pictures she had on her wist and some others I spent hours and hours cleaning up in MSPaint, then I printed them all out and used a comb binding I found in the trash at work to keep them together. They were sent with a pack of markers and crayons..hehe... I love it!...I must make more coloring books!

Here's the companion cube patch, it's just teeny tiny crosstitch (28ct) mounted on white felt....this took forevvvvver, but it came out pretty good, so now I'm inspired to do something else with the leftover aida!

The assortment of doomy magnets I made...they're random magazine clippings glued on cardstock, which I then modpodged and laminated the top, stuck some magnets on the back, and voila!

My favorite was the sugar skull...it's really colorful!

Closeup of the design I painted on the bag...the skull is an iron-on and the rest was freehanded in acrylic paint

An extra I threw in, for our mutual love of bellydancing...a hair ornament! It's made of 2 silk flowers, some beads and coins, and a bobby pin on the back...

And an action shot, to make sure it wasn't too heavy with all the dangly bits...(please disregard the unflattery of this picture...it was hair-dying day, hence the roots and blondness Tongue)

Oh, and the first couple of pictures are of a wooden box I decorated, shaped like a book...here's a shot of it open. I painted the inside and edges a sparkly brown, and modpodged a bunch of randomness on the front, back, and spine...there's also a little gold clasp to hold it closed.

I think that covers it...I have some other pictures, but none with the stuff all together, sadly....it was lots of fun making everything...if anyone has questions about how something was made (or what the heck it is...lol), feel free to ask!

Keep the pictures coming! Grin Grin Grin

4  RAWR slippers! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Kittyraja on: July 09, 2008 11:10:40 AM
Since my lovely swap partner has recieved, I'll post the monster mary janes I crocheted for her!

In progress...

First, I crocheted these awesomely simple slippers using my own adaptation of this GREAT tutorial: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=127333.0

Then I cut little triangles out of felt, blanket-stitched the sides up with white embroidery floss, and stuffed them with scraps of leftover felt, then I sewed them to the finished slippers.

Here's a closeup of the claws...RAWR!!
Oh, and the yarn is Lion Brand Chenile...yum!

Finished and ready to ship to my partner! The inside is lined in red fleece, and I painted some random nonsense on the soles to help them be less slippery...

Thanks for lookin' >^,,^<

^Deceptively compact...there are things crammed and hidden everywhere in those little packages!

6  Re: Jesse's flameless Flames in Knitting: Completed Projects by Kittyraja on: March 07, 2008 08:21:41 AM
lol...I love the look on his face in the blog picture...priceless....the color actually compliments his hair and skintone perfectly!

As for knitting man-things, I somehow lucked out and got THE most craft-supportive partner EVER. So far I've made him a hat, scarf and fingerless gloves, all in basic black cotton, all of which he wears once or twice a week when it's cold here.

I also made him this, my first sweater/cardigan/jacket ever:

It's the Kenobi Jacket from an old issue of Knitscene....he actually loved this one, and wears it at work a lot, which makes me immensely proud because all the horrible, gossipy cows he works with ooh and ahh over it. lol

I think knitting for dudes is a science...I stick to basic colors and textures, and make a point of telling him all the time how EASY it is to clean and/or repair my knitted works (even though it's not  Roll Eyes), and that seems to encourage him to actually wear it.
