21  Bag #3- and then I'm done for today!! :D in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CeruleanEyes on: February 07, 2008 08:25:30 PM
The last bag I made is the same idea but with different handles.  The material is the faux-suede that is popular now with embroidered flowers and (I don't know if you can see them) little sparkley bits all over.  I interfaced all sides, in and out so it's pretty sturdy.  I put in a pencil pocket (big surprise!!) and and open pocket.  The handles are different and I actually like it this way I think more than the long shoulder straps on the other two.  I used blue thread to zig-zag around the top edge and straight stitch along both edges of the handles.  Again, I am pleased with how it turned out.  For all three bags, I 'stitched in the ditch' along the sides to keep the lining from moving around so much, it made the bag feel more solid.

The second bag I made was a pink one with white lining.  The pink material is a sort of jaquard that I had a scrap of.  The lining material is white eyelet (I love eyelet!!)  I used lightweight (iron-on) interfacing on the eyelet to give it a bit of substance.   The strap is kind of wide and I put the eyelet on the outside for a sort of contrast and I made pockets using both materials inside.  To 'jazz' it up a bit I sewed 3 small flower appliques to the front.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  It's meant to be a gift for a friend's little (4yr. old) girl.

I am new to Craftster.  I love this place!!!

I am on a bag making kick lately and in the last 2 days I've made 3.  They are small book bags for my daughters to carry their bibles and study materials in, etc.

The first one is brown mini-cord with embroidered flowers.  I put a little pencil pocket on the inside and I made a long, narrow shoulder strap for this one.  I am so pleased with how it came out.
