I made these in May for a swap partner.  She gets to enjoy them now.  I actually have to use her photos because I forgot to take some of my own.  Cheesy

I love these.  I want some for myself.  LOL  They are so, so easy to make and are so beautiful.

Whatcha' think?  Cheesy

I made these dresses for my girls this month.  I made them all in 2 days' time.  I don't recommend that.  LOL

This is the good pose!  Here are a few that, um, aren't as good....   ?  LOL

Here are the outtakes:

13  Re: Make-a-Friend Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by CeruleanEyes on: June 18, 2008 05:34:54 PM
I got my first package yesterday!!  Haylie did such an awesome job!!

Here is the whole pile of goodies, waiting to be ripped into:

First off we have the 'Who You Are' category.  Haylie made this really neat album for me.  I really like her idea, very imaginative!!

Next is the 'Where Are You From' category:

She sent me several things that represent where she's from.  She sent something for everyone in my family!!  My daughter Madeline got this:

Madeline says 'Thank You!!!'.  She put it on right away and wore it all day.  She also loves the pen and notebook. Cheesy

And she sent me a little package of touristy stuff for/about Michigan and the Detroit area:

Now we have the 'What You Like' category:

She sent this delicious scented body wash.  It's her favorite and it smells soooo good!!

Haylie loves roses and she made a beautiful painted flower cut-out and framed it for me.  (I love black frames so it's doubly awesome!  Cheesy)

And Haylie loves turtles!  So she made this adorable stuffie for my youngest, Elaina.  She says she just 'totally winged it'.  I say 'Holy Cow!!'.  She did a super job- it came out so good!!!  It LOOKS like a turtle!!  LOL  I can't 'wing it' when I sew. If that was me, my end result would not resemble a turtle.  LOL  I am impressed with her handiwork!!

I must apologize for the huge water stain.  Elaina thought her little friend either needed a bath or needed a swim.  Grin

And the last category is 'What You Do Best'.  Haylie does a lot of things really well!!  And again, she made awesome stuff for my family.

For my daughter she sewed this little backpack-type sack.  It is made from t-shirt fabric and it's so well done.  Samantha looooves pink and loves cats so Haylie got it spot on for her.

Close-up of the stencil:

(I couldn't get a better picture.  I'm sorry....)

For my son and my husband she made etched drinking glasses.  Now, my son is a huge NY Yankees fan.  And my husband is a huge Boston Red Sox fan.   Slight turf war going on here.  LOL

Yankees cup:

She put his name on it too.  He loves it very much.  He thought it was the coolest thing ever.  And he loves the fact that he has something to rub in his dad's face that shows he's a Yankees fan.  LOL

The cup she made for my husband:

These glasses are so well done.  My husband (and me!) are so impressed.  And it's hard to impress my husband!  He has a disorder called 'chronic indifference'.  But he doesn't care....
Haylie, you did good!!

Haylie also made me some note cards.  She stencils well and these are so pretty!!

I love abstract flowers and stationary.  Did I tell you my partner rocks??  Cheesy

One last thing is this adorable little salt dough 'thing', as she calls it.  LOL  I used a piece of the ribbon she had wrapped around one of the goodies and I hung it in the window.  I love it.  The colors are my favorite, it's floral and whimsical.  Perfect, perfect and perfect!!  She's got some talent, that girl!!

I also got the required letter.  She wrote it while watching the Bachelorette and she had to interject her thoughts on the show into the letter as she wrote it.  I giggled through the whole letter.  She's very funny.

I am so happy with this package and with my partner.  Thank you so much Haylie!!  I am touched by all the thought and effort you've put into the things you made.  And the fact that you included my entire family, all 6 of us, is most touching of all.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am horribly late posting this.  My poor partner, I'm so sorry Rainbow_Storms!!  I've been swamped for nearly a week and haven't had time to do anything.

I got my beautiful shrinkies from Rainbow_Storms.  She drew them freehand.  I'm very impressed, as I can not draw.  I love the colors she used, they are my favorites and match so many of my shirts!  I've worn them several times already.  Love them!!!  Cheesy

Here is one.  It's an abstract flower pendant.  It's rather striking when it's worn.

And the second one is so cool!  She made a bird pendant.  I love this one a lot!!

The photo quality is horrible.  I'm sorry.

Thank you so much Rainbow_Storms!!  You rock!!  I love them and have already worn them several times.
Thanks for a great swap.  Can't wait for a round 3!  Cheesy

you were totally spoiled!!

For the record:  I made the kawaii heart as the main project but when I fused it, I left it in for too long.  The background was supposed to be pink with purple spots.  Here is where I got the idea (from R_S's wist):

After I burned it, I couldn't rightly give it to her as her swap piece.  So I scrapped it as the main and gave it as a bonus.

The HK necklace- I printed up the HK pics but the ink smeared and I was really disappointed by that.  So, that could not be her swap piece either.  Grrrr.   Angry  So she got another bonus.  Except I wasn't happy with how it laid after I put the necklace together so it was her freebie.  I told her she could keep it or not.  I am very happy to see how much she liked it after all.  Cheesy

The black pendant was just a bunch of extra/leftover pieces that I fused, for fun.  It came out fine so I gave it to her as a bonus.  Again.  LOL

The rainbow wall hanging was her actual swap piece.  I made the weaved piece and shrunk it.  I liked how it came out and decided to fuse it to something and make it a piece of art.  I like how it came out!

Cool shrinky discovery I made........I was shrinking the black pieces and they got stuck to the rainbow strips.  So I took the pan out of the oven and tried to pull the rainbow pieces off the black ones.  But they were rubbery so they just stretched way out.  When they let go, they curled up like crazy.  Kind of like when you curl ribbon for gifts.  So cool!!!!  They cooled off and became hard in their curled state.

So if you want curly cues, stretch the pieces in the middle of the shrink process.

I'm glad you all like my shrinky work.  It's such a fun medium.  And I am thrilled to bits that Rainbow_Storms likes what I gave her.  Cheesy  I'm still waiting for mine.  (Stupid mail.   Angry)

I RECEIVED!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to open it now and post pics in a little bit!  I am sooooo excited!  I just wanted to say that I got my package real quick!

Ok, I'm going to go rip the box open gently open the package now......

More later!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
Okay!  Pictures!!  Sorry, it takes me forever to take and upload pictures.   Roll Eyes

First is my shape- Rectangular.  She made me a beautiful piece of artwork.  I love abstract art and she painted me an 8x10 piece. The colors are burgundy, gray, blue and gold.  It's really beautiful.  I love it!!  I look forward to finding a frame for it so I can display it for everyone to see.  Cheesy

Next is the color- Dusky Blue (yeah, I don't make it easy do I? LOL).  She made me the cutest little purse.  In my 2 favorite colors- blue and brown!  Cheesy  It's a triangle shaped bag (roomy!) with a snap enclosure.  There is an embroidered cardinal on the front (state bird for both of our states! Cheesy).  Isn't it beautiful?  Loves2experiment did a fantastic job on this purse!  LOOK!!---->

Sorry, this one is blurry....

This is a crappy shot of the embroidery....my apologies.  My camera doesn't cooperate all the time.  Undecided

And last but not least-
The texture I chose was Hard.  She made me the most amazing pendants.  She took the idea from a glass pendant on my Wist and she did an amazing job replicating it!!  They look like glass, it's stunning.  And she made me one for every day of the week, in enough colors to match any outfit.  This is my favorite of the 3 themes.  I looooove these!!  Love!  Kiss

Loves2experiment- you ROCK!!!  I love, love, love everything you've made for me.  Thank you!!!!
I can't stop looking at everything and just admiring your talent.  Thanks so much for being an awesome partner and for making this swap so enjoyable. Cheesy  Can't wait for you to get your package!  I hope you like what I've sent you even half as much as I love my goodies.  If so, I will be beyond pleased.  Grin

I am not sure what happened to my partner.  So I thought I'd post some of the pics I sent her, I hope that is okay!!  I'll post the rest in the Photobucket gallery, in case you want to see them.

Ack!  I hope this isn't too many photos!

I'll put the rest in the Photobucket account, if you want to look at them.

I have already uploaded the photos I got from SweetiePickles.  I needed to post pics of the frame I got from her.

So, here they are.   I took camera phone pics, so I apologize for the quality of them.  Smiley

We had decided to frame the one we thought was the best or our favorite photo.  We exchanged 8x10's matted to a 5x7.  The photo in the frame is in Pittsburgh, PA where the 3 rivers meet.

19  Formal Dress ~~IMG HEAVY~~ in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by CeruleanEyes on: March 03, 2008 09:33:12 PM
So, I'm making formal dresses for my girls for an upcoming event later in the month.  I've posted pics of the first one I made and I'm nearly done w/ the second one now.  Done enough to take pics and post them anyway.  Cheesy  I need to put the zipper in but I can't do that until I finish the petticoat.  I was short on fabric for the petticoat slip so I could not finish it.  I can't put the zipper in until the petticoat is sewn in so.....I'm at an impasse right now.  I need to run to Joann's again.

But, I took pics anyway and would like to share.  I think it turned out nice.  There are a few things that bug me but I think that's normal for anyone who sews.

My daughter, Elaina, and her 'twirly' dress:

"Let me see you twirl!!!":

Without the jacket:

"Twirl again!!":

Okay, that's it.  Sorry about the quality of the pics.  I will get better ones one of these days.  I noticed that I need to hem the inner skirt some more, it really shows the difference in length when she twirls.  It'll be lots more poofy when I get the petticoat done.

So, what do you think??   You like?  Smiley

20  New fancy dress for my daughter! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by CeruleanEyes on: February 20, 2008 05:57:05 PM
I am making some fancy dresses for my girls this month and this is my first one finished.  Well, almost finished.  LOL  I just have to hem the lining skirt.  No biggie!  But I wanted to post the pics anyway.   Cheesy

The main color is not pink, as it looks in the pic.  It's a dusty lilac (if that makes sense) and the overlay/sheer is slightly purple w/ white polka dots.  It has a shimmery sheen to it.  I am happy with how it came out.  And I'll hem the last of it v. soon.  LOL  Oh, and I need to get a hook/eye above the zipper.

The Front:

The Back:

CloseUp of the contrast btwn the two fabrics:

And a little idea of the sheen on the overlay/sheer part:

What do you think??    Grin
