11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gnome curtain corners- several pictures on: May 26, 2009 11:58:18 AM
It has been quite a journey on these curtains and the journey continues on even now.  My Gnomes are complete and I am happy to share the progress I have made.
Please pardon the pencil marks, I've not washed it yet and am waiting for the final work to be completed.

First is the completed new corner.... Presenting Mrs.Gnome with her Gnome home:

Closer images of her:

I really thought that a gnome with a little pointy hat needed a little pointy door. Cheesy

This is the little Gnome man that I had done a while back, he just waited and waited for his little Gnome wife to come along:

And here they are together at last.

Her design really developed as I stitched it up.  She ended up being so much more detailed than he is.  I had been contemplating if I wanted to go back a revisit his little garden spot too.  I have not yet made up my mind, my hubby thinks it's fine as is.  I learned several things as I went along on this part of the project and I hope that you all enjoy! Cheesy
12  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Family room curtains - Pic Fat on: May 17, 2009 05:54:07 PM
Once upon a time there was a lady names Mrs.Kitty~, I hated the curtains that came in the house that my Hubby and I purchased.  They were soooo ugly that one day I tore them down and decided to make new curtains.  Here is the process that I took to reclaim the family room and make it into a place that is nice and fun to be in.

Before (witness the horror from 197?)

The creative process begins:

Really this was a large project and I have little machine experience.

looks about right I figure...

Flying by the seat of my pants...

Tabbed goodness:

Action shots:

Proud was I getting all the lines and the grid of the fabric lined up properly.
My tale is done and so are my curtains!   Cheesy
13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Switch plate covers - Pic Fat on: May 17, 2009 05:06:30 PM
These came with the house when we purchased it 4 years ago.  Slowly I have been moving through the house trying to make easy improvements.  This is one that has been done for a bit but I just managed to get some pics of the finished covers.

I love vintage things as much as the next person but I just couldn't make these work for my kitchen.

And after:

They work rather nicely in my kitchen seen here:
I'm getting there!  Cheesy
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Kitchen to Family room wall paint divide on: May 17, 2009 04:56:21 PM
Finally I have been able to get decent pictures of the kitchen and family room paint divide between the rooms.  I am quite happy with the results the area is whimsical and I love it.  The Vines have a bit more ahead of them but I am satisfied with the room paint.

Showing the wall and how it relates to the ceiling:

And the ceiling into the Kitchen:

Soon there will be lovely kitchen curtains to photograph too.
Please feel free to comment.
15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Ride it like you Stole it. on: April 08, 2009 07:25:26 PM
Stitching while at work is something I used to do all the time, not doing it so much these days there.  I have a co-worker that had requested a cross stitch of his favorite biker saying.  Honestly, I took a long time trying to figure out the best presentation of it; I kept designing then deciding that I didn't like what I had worked out.  That ended up being perfect since he repainted the motorcycle during the winter and it went from a pretty blue to a textured matte black!
I still toyed with wanting to add one more layer to the border but I just had to call it done.  Simplicity says it all for this design.  This was the first time that I had really spent any time with metallic floss, which was an experience!  Roll Eyes

You can just see the period at the end is in a nice hot red to match the black, chrome and red touched motorcycle.  His bike is bitchin with red accents on it.  Cool

Hope you like, I know that he did!
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 4 seasons for curtain on: January 25, 2009 11:16:04 AM
I've been working on these curtains for seemingly forever.  I'm slowly but surely moving forward and now that the holidays are over hopefully I can focus on them and get them complete.  This is the newest finished addition on the right panel of the curtain.

It represents the 4 seasons.  I used cross stitch, split stitch, chain stitch, Lazy daisy, and single row wave filling.

17  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Felt embroidered ornaments on: January 25, 2009 11:06:53 AM
Well I never get anything done on time, but here are the ornaments that I made for family and myself this year.  Next year I'm starting much earlier.. like maybe next month after I'm done with a few other projects, or just all year long as I can.  Smiley

These were the trees I made for others.

This was the house I made for myself.

I have lots of ideas for next year too!!  Cheesy
18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Flower Medallion on: November 16, 2008 04:45:52 PM
Well here is another space on my Kitchen curtain filled.  I found this design in the Needle and Thread pattern listing, and I really like it alot.

First a progress shot:

And finally I think I'm satisfied....  Roll Eyes

Let me know what you think!  Grin
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hearts, flowers, and birdies. on: November 09, 2008 11:57:59 AM
It has been a while since I blogged any projects so I'll post all about my recent and now not-so-recent additions to these curtains I've been working on.

First off there was the lower corner of flowers:

Its a pity that you can't really see the colors truely.  I used chain stitch in 2 colors and leaf stitch using the same colors.

Then there was the upper corner:

And the first pattern on the right side panel...

And on I go with the stitching.  Feel free to share your comments.  Smiley
20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Crisp cool night on: October 09, 2008 09:00:52 PM
The things I think of the most here in the fall is the cold crisp nights near the end of October.  Here the evenings get crispness and the leaves get crunchy as a few cling to the near naked branches.  The Moon is clear and bright and maybe a few clouds hang in the sky.  A cold wind with a nip in it blows the light leaves down the street and across the yards.

I'm going to use this as a Quilt patch for the Quilt that I am teaching myself to make... Slow going.

So Fall Challenge 08 ~

the moon and clouds

I used silver metalic thread, it's pretty in person.

I'm fond of falling leavs and naked branches
