1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: 2 Poppets on: March 11, 2008 07:35:11 AM
They are just wonderful!
My sister likes the hula dancer!
I like them both!

I've got a couple extra pair of eyes. PM and I'll send you a couple!

Aww, that is so sweet, I'll have to think what I can send you in return!! Pm'ing  Wink

I love them both.  What did you use for eyelashes on Katie-Cat?  I love the Hawiian print tatoo on the other doll!!!!

Thanks Smiley  I used the yarn that I used for the Hawaiian girl's hair.  Trimmed a strip glued on, then trimmed, then went with a q-tip and clear glue to curl them and stiffen them up a bit.

Thank you everyone!

ruby_soho - I used the pattern Ghilie included with the poppet pattern. Thanks Smiley

Thank you for the awesome name suggestions, I'll have to think about which one to pick, because I like them all!  And thanks for all the wonderful comments from everyone as well.

The faux fur was super easy to use (although my mom told me about the 'cutting it with an exacto knife' trick AFTER I had cut it all. LOL.  But it sews and stuffs so easy with the suede backing) And for the Hawaiian girl I used an old t-shirt from dd that she didn't wear anymore which had those pretty swirls on it.

Ok, so here are my two newest poppets:

Katie Cat (made from fun fur):

(Dress is Ghilie's easy peasy dress pattern, which rocks Wink)

And while I was doing her hair, we thought the hair weft looked kinda grass skirty-y, so we had to make a hawaiian-like Poppet:

(Swimsuit is Craftewoman's bra and panty pattern, which also rocks -- thanks so much ladies for sharing. Skirt is parted to show the underwear bit)

Hawaiian girl still doesn't have a name, any suggestions??

(also excuse their lame eyes, heheh, I still need to find proper eyes!)

Craftewoman - I just sewed it on without the cap.  I'm lazy.  lol

Yep you needed more wefts. My first doll only had 3 and her hair is very flat.
My second had about 14 of a number 4 worsted weight yarn.
my third have about 7-10 of a thick boucle yarn.
Both of the last two have thick poofy hair.
The only problem I see with that hairstyle is if you put it in pigtails she'd be bald on the side. However if you are like me and just want hair on the poppet in one style then it definitely looks easy! I only wanted my newest to be style-able since she's a model. Smiley

Ok, I thought that might have been it.  Yeah, her hair is realllllly floppy, but she won't be wearing piggies so she should be fine then.  For then next one I'll try using more wefts.  Thanks   Kiss  And you're newest is great, I love her face, I missed commenting on her somehow though Wink  Can't wait to see her all finished up and dressed!!

Ghilie love the new hair and boobies on the new one Smiley

Craftewoman, WOW!  She's so cute!

AlwaysInspired - LOVE the peacock!! What a great job.

I'll be posting my newest 2 later, and for one of them, I used this hair tut ~link~ - anyone else used it? I found it much easier, and her hair is so fluffy, but that could be the fluffy yarn I used too I guess, she just seems to have a more full head of hair.  Maybe I wasn't using enough wefts when I did it the other way, because the hair never seemed big enough.  Think that was the problem?
