Abbeeroad - love the stained glass and both T-shirts are great, although the Hufflepuff one is obviously the best!  Wink

Mistress Jennie - those sandwich wraps look like a fantastic idea - definitely on my to-make list.

Noodle-bug - I love the sketchbook.

Magpirate - I love all of your bracelets. I haven't made any in forever, but used to make them all the time, I find the repetition really relaxing.

Project Name: Brownies

Brief Description: This is my go to recipe for Brownies, so I am really confident making this recipe now. It crumbles on top and is gooey in the middle. I made one plain chocolate and the other with a peanut butter swirl.

200g dark chocolate
50g butter
250g golden caster sugar
50g dark muscovado sugar (I used light, they were fine!)
3 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla essence
75g plain flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder

Preheat oven 180C. Grease and line 20cm square baking tin.
Melt together chocolate and butter.
Whisk eggs and sugar until thick and light in colour.
Stir in chocolate mix and vanilla essence.
Gently fold in flour and baking powder, until just combined.
Pour into prepared tin.
Bake in over until set, but still soft in centre - 30-40 mins.

Peanut butter version - warm 2-3 tbsps peanut butter in microwave until softened and put spoonfuls over top of brownie mix. Use a knife to swirl peanut butter in. Bake as above.

Project Name: Cheese straws two ways
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: We had arranged an afternoon tea with friends and I was responsible for the savoury. Alongside sandwiches, I put together some really quick cheese straws.

Recipe

Take a sheet of puff pastry and cut into quarters.
On one quarter spread a mix of cream cheese and sun dried tomato pesto. (I used a tbsp cheese and dsp of pesto.) - Having tried these, I would add a little grated parmesan cheese, it was a little mild on flavour for me.
On a second quarter, spread a little mustard, sprinkle with grated cheese and a pinch of cayenne.
Place another quarter of pastry on top of each and roll slightly to push two sides together.
Slice into 8 slices and place on baking tray, twisting them as you place then down.
Bake at 180C for about 25 mins or until golden.

Project Name: Goats cheese and red onion mini quiche
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: While there are hundreds of quiche recipes out there to choose from/follow, I nearly always just wing it and add what I fancy. They usually turn out ok!  Roll Eyes

This particular recipe -

Sheet of ready rolled shortcrust pastry (I know my baking limitations, and pastry is it!)
Piece of goats cheese - chopped into cubes
1 red onion - sliced and fried in butter until caramelised and left to cool a little
Small pot of single cream
1 egg
Handful of grated cheese
Salt and pepper

I rolled the pastry a little thinner, as I was making mini quiches. Cut circles and line 12 hole tin.
Add a little onion and a few cubes of goats cheese into the bottom of each pastry circle.
Mix single cream and the egg together and season well. Stir in the grated cheese.
Fill each pastry case with the egg mix and bake for about 20 mins, or until golden on top, at 180C.

They are fantastic. I think the blue base just tips towards being my favourite, although both colour ways work well.

seeuudee - that map and the goldfish are wonderful! I'm so intrigued by your Fun at the Fair event. Sounds like a great way to fundraise. I might steal some of your ideas for our local PTA events.

Feel free to steal away Smiley We started adding ideas to a Pinterest board (https://www.pinterest.co.uk/aluker2083/brownie-fun-fair/) back in January and slowly narrowed it down!

@seeuudee: I added Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe to my hold list at our library.  When I did, the library system recommended another title....  Red's HOT Cowboy.  Yep, 'hot' was in all caps.   Kiss

Wow, that is some jump Cheesy

I had a look on Goodreads - it gets quite good reviews. I have never felt the need to dip into the genre called "western romance" but how could you resist a series called Spikes and Spurs?  Roll Eyes

Project Name: Treasure map

Brief Description: We organised a Fun at the Fair fundraising evening with our Brownies and one of the stalls was a Treasure Island Lucky Square. Brown Owl tasked me with making the map. I sketched it out first on the back of an old brown paper bag. I went over it in black and added small touches of colour. I had read of a technique to age brown paper with oil, but my husband said it may make the ink run, so suggested I use wax instead. I went over the whole thing with a white candle and then ironed it between sheets of tissue paper. It came out really well. I then could not bear the idea of drawing squares across the whole thing! So I covered it in clear plastic and drew the squares on that instead. Smiley (The winning square, chosen by a random number generator, was the group of trees just below The Black Forest wording. Cheesy)

Brief Description: Inspired by the colours of butterbeer, I stitched up a little felt goldfish. This was also for the Fun at the Fair evening - people had to guess his name to win a goldfish in a bag. (The winning name was Flounder.)
