1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: I did it!!! (a plus-size skirt for 9-year-old) on: July 23, 2011 08:37:43 AM
Awesome job to an awesome friend!!
I have an idea for you, depending on how much the girls like dresses, if you buy a womans tank top and some tshirt jersey you can make the cutiest grow-ing up girls dresses. Get the girls to put the tanks on, find where their hips are and then cut the tank to that length leaving enough for a hem. Measure from where you cut the tank off (being mindful of adding in the hem on both ends) to where they wear their skirts. Cut a band of fabric double the length and cut. Fold the band right sides out and sew to the bottom of the tank. You now have a self lined skirt. If the top of the tank is too low for their age group and likely under the arms as well, take the jersey and outline the tank on to it making the neck not as deep and the under arms more shallow.  Cut it out, sew in the side seams and serge the edges and tack under the shoulders and under the arms. These are the fastest easy peasy dresses Ive made. You can always look for Tshirts at the GoodWill or any second hand store to cut up for the skirt part, the tanks too if you are lucky!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Butterflies on: July 23, 2011 08:27:16 AM
As soon as I saw the perle cottons I thought how beautiful they would look along the neck and bottom edge of a crisp white smock for a little girl. Once they were sewn in on the hem I would cut out the white cotton so the sun light would go through the butterflies! I will have to look up that pattern and find a little girl to make them for!
Thanks for the introduction to butterflies, they are beautiful!

Same friend, her neice's birthday is this weekend and she wanted a Perry the Platapus cake, first question to her was, who or what is Perry the Platapus! lol After some research I found a t-shirt that looked like this which I loved! So, this is what she got!

I realize that, but you can't see how it looks on the dress on her in the last two pictures and the group picture has it covered up by her shawl!

It's beautiful, you're beautiful and you did a great job on your dress!
Do you have close up shots of the beading you put on the shoulder? It's hard to see it in the picture with your friends.
Pink suits you! Wear it more often!

10  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Harry Potter and Star Wars Cookies on: April 28, 2011 01:03:43 PM
I think I make a set of each, one for my son (Star Wars) and one for his girlfriend (Harry Potter). They are both crazy over those two themes!
My son is going away for the better part of the summer so I just may send him a care package and his girlfriend's birthday is in July, gives me lots of time!
Great idea!
