1  Two more red Lolita skirts, and one black blouse. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by AimeeEvilpixie on: February 17, 2008 04:25:39 PM
Also, an experiment in outfit coordination.

I was going for a sort of combination of punk and classic styles with this outfit. I need to work on waistband sewing more. All my waistbands look a little weird.  The skirt is the only thing I sewed in this outfit.  Gathered waist with elastic, and black venise lace trim.  (I love you, CheepTrims!)

And the second outfit.  Velveteen overskirt, black ruffled underskirt, and black blouse with "pearl" snaps.  Skirts were done without a pattern, the blouse was a Simplicity pattern.

If I ever try to sew with velveteen ever again, I would like someone to slap me in the face, please.

2  Red Underbust Lolita Skirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by AimeeEvilpixie on: February 08, 2008 10:07:29 PM
So I got home today, and I decided, why not sew a skirt?  I have fabric I like, I want to sew more Lolita stuff...  Why not?

Took me about three hours start to finish, and that includes drafting my very first pattern!  The worst part was hand-gathering the yards and yards of ruffle.  Please excuse the rather random outfit I put together to go with it. I need to sew more blouses.

3  Re: Knitted Hellboy Progression in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by AimeeEvilpixie on: February 07, 2008 08:49:57 AM
He is begun!

These are his shorts.  I'm working top-down for his legs and feet.  He's going to have short-row shaping at the butt, the knees and the heels, so he actually looks like he has some shape.  Then I'll work bottom-up from the waist to the shoulders, make the arms separately, then attach the arms to the main body and work up to the neck like I'm knitting a raglan sweater in the round.

He's being made with Caron Simply Soft on size 5 needles.  Hopefully I'll have enough knitting time to get his butt done tonight!

4  No more white walls for me! Bedroom! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by AimeeEvilpixie on: January 31, 2008 08:31:10 AM
Hello, everyone!  Here's my first post, and it's a doozie as far as getting things done go.

So after a lifetime of neutral colors on walls, me and my boyfriend are finally in an apartment we can paint.  We did the dining room a couple months after we moved in but since it was painted BRIGHT RED it took approximately a bajillion coats of paint and we were so exhausted after we finished that we decided to put off painting the bedroom for a little while.

That "little while" turned out to be two years, but on Sunday, the bedroom finally got painted.  My friend Dani came over and helped, so it went pretty fast.  It's still a little patchy, but I'm okay with that.  It adds a little dimension to the paint.  ^_^

We still have some art that needs to go up on the walls, and after one more trip to Ikea we'll have some cabinets and a new sewing table where the current table and shelf are...  But it's painted!  It doesn't look like a dorm room anymore!  I'm so happy and proud and grown-up feeling.

As a bonus, here's a photo of the mobile I made in high school for a friend of the family, after it fell to the floor and broke two years ago and I disassembled it and finally got around to installing it as an art piece on her wall.  In light of its history, I have named it Phoenix.

So, yeah.  I'm feeling accomplished right now.  ^_^
