1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / First attempt-need some advice on: June 20, 2010 03:09:34 PM
Definitely not as easy as some of you make it look. I got the hang of it as I went on though. I made a beautiful and accidental thick and thin. I do have a little concern with whether or not this will be overspun when i take it off. I didn't learn of overspinning until about 5 minutes ago. How do you avoid overspinning? Also, does the think-thin wonky look come from an uneven draft or does how I spin also effect that? Finally, I can't find anything that tells me what to do with the end of the yarn when I'm finished. I'm afraid the spin will come out.
Here's my creation!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Prom Clutch on: March 01, 2008 09:09:51 PM
My grandma and I started making my prom dress today. We got everything cut out and I had loads of extra fabric. So I decided to make a clutch to match! I used This link in the tutorial section as a guideline. There are lots of things I did, that she didn't do, but it's basically the same thing. Props to her for coming up with such a cute clutch that just so happens to match my 1930's syle wedding dress pattern for my prom dress!:D

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Challenge Question on: February 22, 2008 04:35:57 PM
I have a quick question about individual craft challenges. I've noticed that a lot of the boards haven't had a new challenge for a long time. Why is that? I've recently become active in craftster, even though I've been a member for a few years. Mostly due to the fact that I'm actually motivated enough, and comfortable enough with my work to share it with other people. I would love to see new challenges on all boards because I would love to participate in them now. Thanks for reading this! Oh, and I searched to see if anyone has asked a question like this before, and I couldn't find anything. So pardon me if someone has. Thanks again. Cheesy
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Valentine's Gifts on: February 12, 2008 09:23:17 PM
I rarely ever make any beaded things, but I wanted to make my bf some key chains for v-day. They're kinda rough, but I still think they're cute. Cheesy
A heart

The first letter of his name and the first letter of mine, together.

I also made a stitch marker for crocheting!

Everything is simple. Just beads on 24 gauge craft wire.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New bag for school. on: February 03, 2008 06:50:04 PM
My old bag ripped, so instead of fixing it, I made a new one! I like this one better because it has a pouch for my colorful pens. And it seems lighter because I can place my books and such horizontally. This is also the first thing I've sewn in a long time. Crocheting is taking over my life.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I'm making a baby blanket on: February 02, 2008 10:39:07 PM
I got this yarn for christmas and I started making a bag with it, then after I was frustrated with the bag pattern, I switched to making a baby blanket. I still need to get another skein to finish. I think it looks great so far. I want to add some sort of border when I'm done, but I can't decide... Any suggestions. Also, the picture makes the edge look wavy, but I don't think it looks like that in person.

And just in case any of you are wondering, here is a true representation of the colors.
7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / AMIGURUMI CACTUAR (from Final Fantasy games) on: December 24, 2007 12:53:50 AM

Inside holds a one of a kind cactuar, named Meester Peekle, complete with 1,000 needles! (for my older sister)

Oh snaps! I just noticed that I cut off the spikes on his head in the picture. He has the three spikes on his head like the reference pic does. I  think that's what makes him cute.
For reference here's what they look like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Cactuar.png

And I apologize for the bad webcam photos, my camera is still being held hostage.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / christmas presents! (maybe image heavy) on: December 15, 2007 10:12:40 PM
So I'm making all my christmas presents for people this year because I think it's better than buying them things they'll never use. None of these are original, most of them you will probably recognize.
Soccer Hat for my little sister.

DS Case for my friend, Daniel. Modeled by my always attractive pink DS lite.

Pig with wings for one of my  best friends. When I saw this pattern, I thought of her.

And a Lamb for my other best friend, who is directing a one act play called The Diary of Adam and Eve, I also play the part of the funny lamb in this play.

I still have more to do, but this is all I have finished right now. Thanks for looking. Cheesy
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / baby hat and scarf set on: December 11, 2007 03:30:47 PM
So the other day i decided my 6 month old cousin would look adorable in a matching hat and scarf set.  I've made the hat, but I can't find a pattern for making a scarf for  a 6 month old. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what stitch to use, etc. I can pretty much guess the size myself I just cant decide which stitch is most effective. Oh and I don't know if this would change any of your suggestions, but the yarn I'm  using is Bernat softee chunky in Nature's way. Which is a really pretty brown, blue, tan, mix.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / pattern help! on: December 08, 2007 07:34:47 PM
I'm using the pattern here: http://www.geocities.com/crochethut/babyswirls.html When it says crochet last two chains together, is it referring to a slip stitch?
