1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / hmm.... Which one?? *Pics 4 deat.* on: August 09, 2008 12:45:49 AM
I want to make something similar to this:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=239676.msg2636051#msg2636051 & this (lol, soz for the wonky pic I'm tired as 1-2-3!!!!):

For when I go back to school but a little shorter..... I really like the shirt underneath idea (i'm talking about on the first page, not the third page) but I just can't figure out what type of skirt to attach (so it'll be a mini dress). I'm probably going to wear some jeans or leggings under it...
So far I've come up w/ a tulle skirt (not too sure about this one, seems to "dress-up" to me) or a short circle skirt. I really want it to be casual and I am FREAKING OUT because I have to get this done by like 3pm (it's 3:45 am right now...yikes!)

What type of skirt should I make? (Pics if possible, please)
The tube-ish part is going to be baroque satin in this color: http://www.joann.com/joann/shop/shop_tszoom.jsp?path= ...Tell me if you think one of these colors look better if you think so (or if I should use a different fabric...I'm open to ANY suggestions): http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2964&PRODID=prd7205#select ....
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Back To School Dress!!! Please Help! I'm going to Joann's Tommorrow! on: August 08, 2008 09:35:07 PM
Well, I want to make a dress for when I go back to school on Sep. 2nd, but I have no idea what kind. I'm might hand sew it but I'm probably going to end up using the sewing machine with my mom.
Anyway, does anyone know any nice & simple casual dresses I could wear back to school that'll go w/ a nice scarf? If you do, please link pics/patterns!!! Any written ideas are great also!

I'm "petite" to some people I guess (I'm 5'0) & *cough*sorta flatchested (32 a)*cough* so no "busty" stuff please! :DBut I'm ok w/ short...here are my measurements:
  Waist: 25
  Bust: 30
  Hip 33 1/2
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!!!
3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Indians, Geishas, Rajputs, Oh My! on: April 10, 2008 08:47:42 PM
Ok, so at my school, we're doing this Humanities Night thing where you dress up as a Japanese, Indian (the continent), or Chinese--the ethnicities we've studied this year, or dress up according to your cultural background.

Wellll, I'm in a jam... I am 58% Native American, and the rest African American (mostly) and Creole and general caucasian (I'm thinkin french 'cause I keep finding red hairs!!)...and I HAVE TO GET A COSTUME!!!! I really want to represent the my native american side (since it's on both my mom and dad's side) and I want to make my own costume.

Now, let's talk about the prob: As much as I research, I cannot find pics of Blackfoot, Choctaw, or Cherokee outfits for me, a petite female standing 5'0!!! Could someone possibly help me out with this??? How could I pull it off to make it cute and not stereotypical??

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Oh No! Not Another Newbie Question!!! **edited** on: March 21, 2008 07:47:58 AM
Ok, so today I'm going to Michaels to pick up some Sculpey...or some other [polymer] clay ... Well, I have never worked w/ Polymer clay before so I have to quick questions:
-What type of clay is easy to work with & air drys???
-If I can't find any air dry clay, is it safe to bake it in my oven? How would I go along doing that???

You don't really have to answer both my questions, it's just that I need to answer #1 really quick because I need to get started on my project!

**In case you're wondering, my project is making something like this:

**sorry 4 the huuuuge pic, i havent quite found out how to resize images.....**

Excuse my slowness, I mean an air dry clay... I just found out polymer clay doesn't air dry....sorry!
Oh yeah, please don't recommend Crayola Air Dry Clay because that stuff is a pain to work with! thanks!
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / hmmm... Oreo Balls? on: March 20, 2008 12:05:31 PM
Ok, soooo I have this project on The Kongo Empire (not present-day Kongo) and 1 of my project partners (lol, not the one i've been fussing about on my blog) asked me to cook something that they ate.....well, the problem is, they ate stuff like cassava, which i cannot make and don't have the ingredients for.

Well, I DO have ingredients to make Oreo balls but I don't know how that can relate to The Kongo Empire.... We have to have something else besides a poster, and since we xouldn't find anything else, it has to be this....

Well, enough of my rambling... Does ANYONE know how I can relate Oreo balls w/ the Kongo Empire??? Should I try to "jazz them up"?

Has anyone ever heard of this or have a recipe of this?  Roll Eyes Ok, I know I never heard of it either, but I was just thinking, it must taste REALLY good! So, I decided to take my "dilemma" to you very crafty ladies (and gentlemen!) thinking you heard of it...
Anyway, if you have a recipe please post it! I really think this would be fun to make sometime... lol, stay tuned if you don't know a recipe anyway, 'cause i'm making me a pepperoni lasagna!!!!  Tongue
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gift 4 Friend Whose Mom Passed???? on: February 25, 2008 08:56:44 AM
Well, my friend's mom died of breast cancer last week and I really want to make something for her (I prefer making something rather than buying something since I have lots of materials around the house). I don't specifically want to make anything tributing her mom, I just want to make her a regular bunch of gifts w/ a few things that have to do with her mom. I am thinking about making like a basket or bag (something along that line) of gifts... She is 14, into hip-hop & r&b, wants to be a model, likes candy, magazines, fashion, posters, etc. She's pretty much a regular teenage girl and I'm a total tomboy/girly girl opposite!! *But, we do share the same love in Hip-Hop, Gospel & R&B since she and I sing and we were raised around A LOT of music.
Although I don't have enough money to spare (I didn't get paid yet!! yikes!!), I still want to get my buddy something nice because she was there when my granny died, and she continues to be there for me & believing I can achieve my dreams of becoming an actress & she & my other friend make school a little more fun (lol, laughing with teachers, Facebook 24/7, the usual...).
So if you guys have any ideas, please share 'coz I'm totally spaced!!!
