1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Sweatin to the Oldies (well not so much) cd swap on: July 12, 2005 05:15:08 PM
I am really really interested in cd swaps right now.  I love to work out.  How about a cd swap where we all make workout inspiring mixes?  from warm up, to cool down.  I love to be able to work out to the type of music playing, its really motivating.  Id like to start it up in mid august, unless someone else wants to organize!  =)

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Heres my Playlist Swap on: July 12, 2005 05:12:00 PM
Wouldnt it be cool if we swaped cds with our playlists on them?  or as many mp3s as we can fit on a cd?  I think this would be awesome, essp if we had it so everyone sent to everyone (limit the amount of people in the swap) I think we'd all end up with so much new and different music our heads would explode.

I want to organize a swap like this maybe in August.  any interest?

3  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Stencil Challenge on: July 07, 2005 07:38:00 PM
I think it would be cool to see what people would come up with when all given the same basic stencil design.   I think it would be challenging having to all work with the same basic idea, and come up with something that really sets it apart from all the rest

5  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 2 ENTRIES / skanky slips + Teddy Bears + old smokey curtains on: June 25, 2005 03:52:14 PM
Hey.  I decided to challange myself with this one by using stuffed animals for the main part of my outfit.  I bought THREE large stuffed animals

a old frilly curtain

and a couple old cheap slips

I didn't use one of the slips or the stuffed doggy, but I did use all three bears, and they didnt offer me as much fur as I though they would.
Here is a picture of the unstuffing process (the messiesy thing I have ever done)

after I destuffed them all I un seamed all the seams, which was fun, lots of ripping and hand hurting fun.  I ended up having a bunch of odd sized peices of extremely messy and sneezy bear fur.  I then had to patch work them so they would make bigger peices of fur-fabric, so I could do the design I had in mind.  I liked the idea of a halter with a see thru back, so I did the back with the curtains.
The skirt is assemetrical with the pink and white slips, and the curtains.  There is a fur (rim?) haha, I dont know how to say it, but you can see in the pictures.  I added an bear eye to the halter, and also a bear eye as a button on the skirt.

this is the side view, the back also has corset lacing, with little bows, just so its more adjustable, so that is what the pink ribbon hanging off is.

This is the whole front of the outfit, the halter doesnt look the best on me, because I have a unusually large chest, so it makes me more burley looking.  I think on a normal average women tho however it would look nice.

this is a close up of the back (sorry its a bit blurry?)

and a close up of the halter, detail and whatnot.

here is the eyeball button on the skirt.

This was a fun project, I think stuffed animals have more uses then I thought.  I plan on making a purse with the puppy.  This was mostly hand sewn, and then done over with a machine in a couple places.  It reminds me of something a stylish eskimo would wear to a wedding.  haha.

Thanks for looking!

6  UNITED STATES / Minnesota / Hair Models needed! on: June 22, 2005 02:46:51 PM
I am a hairstylist here, and am thinking about opening my own little hair extentions service, out of the home.  I would be offering regular and dread extentions.  I want to start up a website, with before and after pictures to show, so I need models.  Any age or shape will do, the only thing I ask is you buy the hair, and everything else will be free.  Hair can run from as cheap as 99 cents (for really low quality, I'm tallking reeealllly low quality synthetic hair) or human hair I have bought as low as 20$ for a bag.  That is up to you, what kind of hair you would like, weather it be low or high quality, it doesnt make a difference to me, but will to you.

I am licensed in cosmotology and have worked with extentions.  Please respond to this thread if you are interested, or email me at [email protected]  if you are interested.

You would be getting a full head of extentions for the price of the hair, which is way cheap.  I would like to get about 10 to 20 people.  =D
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Framing your artwork (Canvas) on: June 22, 2005 01:46:25 PM
I have been painting for years, but have never actually framed any of my artwork, other then water colors and such.  How do I go about framing a peice of Canvas?  I am entering a painting in the state fair and it must be properly framed and all that fun.

Can you take it to places and have it framed?  ahhh... help.

8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / CD Swap board on: June 22, 2005 01:12:43 PM
I noticed a lot (well not as many as I would like, hehe) of CD swaps happening, I was thinking it would be great to have its own section, amongst the crafts and paper/mail art rings... because it doesn't really fit in with either board.  Plus its such a cheap, and easy and quick swap, it might be fun to do more.

I would be willing to help moderate this board, since I have been swapping for a while now, I feel like I spend enough time on here anyway! hehe.

I have a lot of fun ideas for some cool cd swaps, I think they are a great Idea, essp for the people who love to watch craftster, but dont feel particularly crafty enough themselves to join a swap.  Anyone can make a mix cd!  yay for mix cds!

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Scrabble Letters on: May 08, 2005 10:05:11 PM
I was at Wal*Mart today and saw they sell actually packages of Scrabble letters, (even in mini scrapbook size versions)

On the package they show such potentials of these wooden letters as useful on book covers and picture frams (aka stuff people have done of craftster...aka?)

Anyway, Its probably cheaper to go find a used scrabble set, but these "authentic" letter look the same, and i think come with a couple of each letter.  (the little weeny craft book ones are actually cute)

Just thought I'd let some of you know, if your looking for scrabble peices but cant find it in your heart to destroy such beloved game... these ones were obviously made for the intention of crafting.  They are in the craft section with the scrap booking supplies.
