371  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need Help on: March 30, 2008 05:21:17 PM
Is it sunny or shady? Or a little of both? How deep are the wires? Are we talking three inches or three feet? Are you in zone 8?

That info would make it easier to suggest a few things. I'm in NC (zone 7). Salvia and Vinca are nice perennials that are supposed to be drought tolerant, but do well in my wet yard (even with the drought the ground stays pretty wet).

Do you have a local garden nursery? Usually the employees are really knowledgable about gardening locally-- more so than the big box stores.

Good luck!

Your daughter is amazing! That shirt is great. I think I was only handstitching lumpy uneven pillows at age seven. Great job!
373  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: "Hideous Birds" Rock Vintage Fabric on: March 11, 2008 10:26:09 AM
... but is there really an 'ugly' fabric??  Cheesy
I work at a reuse center and I can attest to the fact that there's ugly fabric out there--most of it from the 80's.

That being said, those parrots are awesome! Not hideous at all. And if you created the pattern yourself, you should write a craft/sewing book.
374  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Library bag on: February 23, 2008 05:15:47 AM
I love your bag. Especially the library card holder.

You could make shopping bags with pockets for coupons. And you could fold them up and put them into little bags. You could make lunchbags. You could make gift bags (although the bag you made would be a gift itself).

You have quite the twisted sense of humor...and I love it! The little girl is wonderfully creepy.
376  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: More sites for Free Recycled Stuff on: February 12, 2008 05:36:22 AM

Is there are recycle center near Philadelphia?

Try www.redo.org for a list of reuse centers around the U.S. Not ususally free, but usually cheap!

We're thinking about having a warehouse fabric only sale in March or April. I will post when I have any details.

About  1 1/2 weeks ago we got some amazing fabric in--  Hoffman, Peter Pan, Jenny Beyer, and more. It's been selling like mad, but we still have lots of it left.
