that is the most beatiful quilt i have ever seen im my life. when i saw the pix i actually gasped and turned very green with envy. i hope one day to be able to make such a wonderful piece of art. scarry to think that is only your 2nd quilt. what will they be like when you get to your 50th? they may actually part the sky and bring the angels down to sing!
19  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: ok the machine is threaded now what? on: August 27, 2008 11:39:35 AM
this is what i decided to start with. im having some issues already as you can imagine. really i was thinking how hard can this be? lol, well it is.

first problem is im not sure which way to cut the strips. it seems ive read that you need to cut the fabric a certain direction. i have started just to cut it not across the grain as it did not say to.

next problem my cutting board  is not long enough to rotarty cut the 25.5 inches long that i need for this. but cant i just rip these since they are gonna be raggy in the end? or just encourage by clipping them a bit after ive sewn them?

3rd prob. i cant seem to make my cuts straight with the rotary cutter. what is the secret to that....or am i just stupid  Huh

hang in there guys i will get the hang of this. im pretty hard headed!
20  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / ok the machine is threaded now what? on: August 26, 2008 07:37:26 PM
ok i bought the machine, looked at it for a month, got the bobbin in, looked at it for 3 days, threaded it, looked at it for two more weeks. today i actually sewed some stitches on an old pillow case!  Roll Eyes now i dont know what to do. i really want to quilt, but i know i cant just do that first. so my question is what is the easiest thing to start with so i dont feel like a failure on my first go? i really dont know anything, i did buy some fabric and i have a pair of sissors Cheesy i really did buy a few things but i just dont know where to start. thanks so much.
