Well good for you for trying out cables (a little secret: they're always easier than they look!). I think that yarn will look great cabled up with the color changes Cheesy Can't wait to see the finished product.

Just a quick question: the burn test is singe = wool/natural fiber (I know cotton will stay on fire for a bit) and melt = synthetic?

Thanks!! It does seem easy - after this I'll have to try the Fetching gloves on Knitty.com!

and yes, if it smells like burning hair or flesh, its animal fiber, burning leaves/earth is a plant fiber, and melting is synthetic (yay for nana's! Smiley )

ok phew!

I'm no sure what yarn it is, except that its wool (burn test!)
My nana had bought a bunch of yarn from a store going out of business, and a lot of their hanks had no labels other than a price.   Sad

its just the yarn - obviously.

I started my entry. Its not done yet, I just wanted to make the post saying "Yup I'm doing this, here's the start of my entry" - And the day its completed I'll take the finishing picture and add it. I thought that was allowed..?

Here's my entry for the New Years Resolution Knitting Challenge! A Cabled skinny Scarf! I've wanted to start cabling but I've been too timid... so here goes nothing!!
I took 2 pictures of the material with a date - one is from my stitch n bitch catalog and the other is this weekend's newspaper (Superbowl weekend, 2/2/08 Wink )

WIP pictures!

More WIP pictures, about half done - my boys are modeling for me!

I finished last night!! I waited til this morning to take the picture, but here it is!!

I am VERY happy with the way it came out  Cheesy

I think I'll join up with trying a cable skinny scarf!! I've been afraid to try cables so far, so here's the excuse!!
29  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry on: February 02, 2008 08:00:28 AM
Over a year later....  Wink here I am! I completed Calorimetry less than a week ago, though I'm kinda unhappy - its huge! Luckily its got the holes so I can adjust it (To the 3rd hole in!), but man...
But I love the color of it and how it knitted up, So I'm keeping it. Its wool, so I'm going to try a hot water bath for it with no agitation and see if that will shrink it up.

So here it is!:

and an action shot:
