1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How do I get over it?! on: July 23, 2008 01:36:20 PM
I have been making stuff for a couple of years, and always just tossed a random *most likely underpriced* price at it, and called it a day.  Well, I finally STOPPED doing that, and actually did the calculations...and it turns out that the price is a little more then what I had thought it would be if I paid myself an hourly wage plus supplies.  I am obviously going to STOP underpricing myself, but how can I help myself feel confident in knowing that it's actually priced CORRECTLY *for once*  Does that make any sense?

HELP!?! lol  Thanks!

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Keyboard & Mouse...What to do? No idea...clueless here! HELP! on: July 06, 2008 09:52:45 AM
My fiance went to toss the trash and found a box with a computer *no monitor* keyboard and mouse.  He has no use for the keyboard and mouse, so I adopted them.  I know the usual make jewelry or magnets out of the keys, or a purse...but any other ideas?  I tried googling ideas and tried looking here in craftster, but nothing.  Thanks a million!!!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recon shirts! These are a few of my favorite things!!! And more! on: June 24, 2008 02:27:53 PM
Hey everybody!  I know, they aren't "THAT" great, but they are still cute and comfy!  I don't think I have any action shots, but here are my pictures.  I am still new at working the sewing machine and actually sewing, but I am having fun just learning from my mistakes!  Comments please!!! Thanks!!!

This shirt I turned into a cute tank top.  I chose the main shirt because in the back it reads "Back that ass up" so funny!  I added material to the sides, more below and some cute pockets!  Straps are adjustable.

My first recon halter top!  I love this top!

Tube Top!  It reads "FLASH ME...your pearly whites" hehe.

A recon shirt I made my niece.  It was a long sleeve shirt at one point.  Now a cute top!

Pajama top turned into gaunlets *sp?* and now I have a sleeveless pajama top

This purse used to be a sweater that belonged to my nephew.  It out grew him, so I turned it into a cute tote.

Comments, questions?  I had fun!  I have more recon shirts, just no pictures yet! hehe.  Thanks for looking!

4  Florida / Florida: Central / New to Altamonte Springs! on: January 29, 2008 10:40:40 PM
Hi!  My name is Nancy, and after surviving a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for a little over 2 years, I have officially moved to Altamonte Springs.  I had lived in Orlando for a year in 2005 for an Internship *and that's when I met my cutie* then I had to fly back home to finish my college degree *BA in Criminal Justice* and finally finished it in December.

Moved to FL January 7th *got engaged at the airport* and pretty much just taking a break and just chilling doing my crafts.  I currently make hair bows, but I also tinker in a few areas *I like recon unwanted goodies hehe* I really don't know how to sew that much...so I am trying to teach myself.

I live in Altamonte Springs with my fiance, but I don't know anybody here.  I hate that idea of living in a place where I don't know anybody.  I love meeting new people!!!

I love going to the goodwill, salvation army and thrift stores.  *love love love* I was at the Salvation Army on 436 on Monday *the one after University* and I found a couple of tshirts I am currently working on.  Hope to be finished my tomorrow.

Okay, enough rambling. Would just like to meet fellow crafters in the area, maybe go out thrift shopping and revamping! lol.  Feel free to email me at: babybowmadness@yahoo.com *hugs* everybody!!!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Wallet made with business cards and tape *Pictures* on: January 29, 2008 12:53:34 PM
Hi everybody! I was trying to print out business cards for my store, and accidentally messed up a page I had printed out.  It was printed on cardstock with those easy tear thingys, so everything had to be exact, well, it didn't turn out like that.  If I were to tear to pre cut area, half of it would get lopped off.  Sooooooo, I turned the entire sheet into a wallet.

I covered it in clear tape, and turned it into a wallet.  I had a few old business cards left over, so I used those has the inside pockets.  I took a piece of plastic *like those that cover the pack of batteries* and cut it to size, and will be using it to hold my IDs.  In the picture you will see another business card in it because I didn't have my wallet with me at the time and it was hard taping it down since it was clear, lol.

Now it turns out perfectly because I needed a new wallet to begin with! lol.  I may make an outside pocket for change.  I did a bifold, and added velcro.  I may use the empty middle spot to tape pictures there....but don't know what else. I got tired of the idea of more pockets! lol.  *any ideas are welcome*

Comments please!!! hehe.

Sorry about the blurriness on the second picture! *blushes*  Embarrassed But I am sure you get the idea! hehe  Roll Eyes

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Where can I find Craft Fairs here?!?! on: January 28, 2008 08:12:44 AM
Hi!  I Nancy, and I am new to Florida *just moved here 3 weeks ago from Puerto Rico* and I have searched the Internet  for craft fairs coming up in FL *particularly in the Orlando area* and I can't find anything. I figured Michael's or Joanne's would have a bulletin board for that sort of stuff, but they don't and I have no idea where to look.  In PR, I would just go to my local flea market to sell, but if I want to do that here, I am required to get a business license.  Oy.  Any help would be so grateful!!!  I am dying to get out there and start selling my goodies *hair bows and turning items into purses and wallets* lol.  Thanks!
