5  Re: I need new earrings! Swap -Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by murbeck on: July 27, 2011 04:01:46 PM
I'm FINALLY posting pictures of my beautiful earrings from Stegorawrus.  Steg, if you have better pics, please feel free to post them, these were the best I could get with my camera...

I wore these out on night one of our anniversary weekend... love them

These I wore on day 2:

Haven't worn these yet but I think they might be worn tomorrow to work:

and some really wicked awesome ear cuffs.  I wish the pics did better justice.  The blue one is very snowy with a crystal snowflake and the loveliest glittery blue beads...

Thank you so much!  I'm sorry I haven't sent yet but will send by Friday.  I really want to make you that extra, especially since I'm waiting last minute now  Tongue

6  whatever it was, it's now a cherished earring display :) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by murbeck on: June 19, 2011 06:37:00 PM
oh how I wish I'd gotten before pictures!  But I'll do my best to paint a before picture <queue dream sequence>

wOooooOwoOOo WooowoowooOOOOoo..................

I have been getting more and more into earrings and have been getting sicker and sicker of of digging through my wee little drawer of earrings to find the right pair each morning.  So, I went to the thrift store in search of something with an area to attach some mesh for displaying my pretty ear trinkets.
I searched and searched and in the second thrifty store I found the most perfect, disgustingly painted... thing.  Don't know if it once held a picture or a mirror or if it simply framed nothingness, but it had an under-the-sea theme complete with little 3-D fish glued on and a few dings here and there.  I gladly paid the $4.50 asking price and merrily brought it home to show hubby my find!

I chiseled off the fishes, sanded down the destruction they left behind (along with whatever else I could smooth out), primed it up [hurry up and dry] painted it a few coats of a relaxing shade of NEON PINK [hurry up and dry dry dry] and then I spent many blissful hours doodling my favorite things all over it.  Then I sealed it [take your time drying, I'm taking my tired butt to bed] and the next morning I hot glued some plastic canvas stuff to the back (yay, green!  now it's my fave color combo!), where the picture or mirror would have nestled in, glued a strip of cork along the bottom of the back of the canvas for studs to poke into and VOILA!  My earring display!

I love love love it!  just need more earrings to dangle from it Smiley    ahem... hint hint future swap partners  Wink

Oh!  and Frost Yourself is from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days".  I always thought it was cute and it popped in my head as an appropriate way to start the doodling for my jewelry.  Plus, it game me a reason to make lots and lots of snowflakes!  Smiley  Yay, snow!  Grin

So, Sevs and I agreed to just fill a flat rate box for each other, and she did FILL that flat rate box!!!  My goodness!

So, as I said earlier, Amazingness:

comfy & cute owly flannel pajamas  Smiley

Smutty romance novel, because that's how I roll

a pin cushion for my wrist, fits just right!

a pad & tampon case, that snaps shut, and a crochet hook case that folds up and has scissors and lots of stitch markers inside, I really wanted both of these!

The witch IS in!   Cool

3 stenciled shirts, I'm wearing the poppins one now!

some extras: nail polish, matching tea towel and pot holders and treats for dogs

and this neat notebook & post card.  It has instructions to fill out a page with whatever I want and pass it on.  Eventually it gets sent back to this girl running the project.  The post card I send back with a note now Smiley  Neat!!!

And finally, the most incredible jewelry starting kit!!!!  I can't believe all the pliers and so many beads and really wicked charms and chains & findings... I just can't believe it.

Thank you so much for asking me to the dance and for SPOILING me!!!!!!!  I had so much fun with this swap and just being your partner Smiley

It is so fun to see all the hints come to light and also see things and go "aaaahhhh, now that one question makes sense!"  Cheesy
I came home from shopping early to see a Priority Mail box on my couch which had me squeeling before I got the front door shut.  The squeeling didn't stop there, I can assure you!  Are you ready?  Are you ready for some surius spoilage?

A reusable Joann's bag (I drool over this particular bag at the store all the time!), hand poured Basil & Herb soy candles, a spicy looking paperback, a Church's Collection of Recipes Book (I find this SO thoughtful & useful!), a great purse, 2 photo printouts of a beautiful Sheep photo (one framed one not) straight from my Pinterest and will go sit near my yarn, another photo print of a favorite picture and quote "A book in my hand and a dog by my side... ... We belong together" also from my pinterest

a tote bag with another Pinterested joke, and it made me laugh hysterically when I walked my husband through saying it out loud and hearing what it said.  Then there's also some local coffee - YUM.  There's also a better shot of my great purse...

A pillow case that is made to fit a particular, easy to get pillow form from walmart.  This too is inspired by a pillow from either my wist or pinterest... maybe both!  LOVE

Hang in there with me, THERE'S STILL MORE!!!!!

a a hanging dishtowl, it has ties to it won't fall off (like mine alllllllways do).  This is going to be so useful & I love the colors & leafiness!

a set of glasses with the Alliance lion etched on and double stripes going around.  So well done and I just love the style of glasses she chose.  And best of all, they got here safely with no breaks!

Ok, finally, my most favorite part of my package... a reversible apron!!!!!!!!!!  I love love love love it!  And it fits perfect and the ties are nice and long and... well... it makes me feel cute  Roll Eyes  See?!

Polky-dotted side

and the ties, with a glimpse of the diamondy side

And who is responsible for all of this spoilage?

Why, it's the incredibly talented Hockamama!  Thank you so much.  Sincerely.  This was such a thoughtful package  Kiss

9  Another Con, Another Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by murbeck on: March 30, 2011 02:28:54 PM
We went to MegaCon last weekend and my guys (husband and friend/roommate) wore the same costumes from the Star Wars Con, except I made them some robes to add on with and I made myself an all new costume- Barriss Offee.  I was overwhelmed with the response, I couldn't believe how many people knew who I was (being a lesser known Jedi).  Anyway, I spent many many MANY hours just engineering the construction of my cloak and my skirt & shirt were done with very strategically chosen patterns that I think worked out perfectly.  I did my belt buckle with fimo & paint.  Eye liner for my diamonds and though the photos don't show it, I used green eye shadow to tinge all visible skin.  Oh!  and the cloak... I couldn't find the right print for it so I bought something nice in the right color and hand drew the design on... all... 60 inches wide... by 7... yards... length...  Tongue  I'm glad I went for it though, I think it made all the difference.  Ok, enough rambling:

Here's a pic showing a comparison between me (left) and the movie Barriss & her buckle (right)

and here's the 3 of us getting photographed by multiple people, but it shows my friend's costume pretty good (the Sith Warrior).  Hubby was Obi.

It was a great con, we had a blast!
