2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Happy Birthday Cookies on: January 09, 2011 01:03:47 PM
They are adorable!  And The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies is the only recipe I ever use for sugar cookies 'cause it really is the best, IMHO.    Cheesy
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: eco felt question? on: December 11, 2010 09:13:19 PM
I think it should be okay for hair pretties.  I recently bought some and have used it to make name books for the new nieces in my life, so far it seems to be holding up pretty well.  It does stretch a bit and the light colors tend to be a bit transparent but other than that it's been good for me.

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Baby Quilt for a Friend on: August 05, 2010 01:45:28 PM
Thanks for all the compliments!!

My non-procrastinating is a one-time only deal, I'm sure.   Roll Eyes  And I couldn't procrastinate, since the quilt was for a good friend and not a family member, my husband INSISTED that we get a new sewing machine.  I'd been using a cheapo Walmart Singer for 9 years.  I got to upgrade to a Husquavarna Viking Sapphire!!!

The minky was a bit of a pain but I pinned it to death and it turned out well.  It is super soft and going to make the quilt extra warm - baby is due the end of November in Colorado - so it HAD to be something snuggly and warm.

The border was the worst part.  It was my first time with a decorative stitch and definitely wonky.  But I'm going with the defense that it adds "character" to the quilt.   Undecided

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Baby Quilt for a Friend on: August 02, 2010 06:46:59 PM
I made this for a good friend (we've been friends since we were 12 - so that's ummm, 15 years now).  She tried to get pregnant for years then went to a fertility doctor, paying him upfront, only to find out she was already pregnant!  Roll Eyes  I based the quilt off a picture she sent me, and was unusually productive, finishing it well before the November due date!   Cheesy

9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Does homemade jelly save you money? Who cares! Its delicious. on: August 02, 2010 11:43:02 AM
Nope! The other Abilene - Texas. But both are pretty podunk and lack a Whole Foods, I'm pretty sure.  Cheesy

I know that the KS one is about as podunk as can be.   Wink
