41  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween costume ideas for 2008 on: August 28, 2008 04:19:21 PM
MollyMillions that is hysterical.  Only thing funnier is if you found some friends to go as your sisterwives.

So, what's a girl to do when she has a whole month left til her Walt Disney World vacation (other than drive her DH crazy with her insane excitement)? Why, craft of course. I had already been checking out shrines with the idea of a frame out of a heart shaped altoid tin I found, also I used to always carry my season pass/id/money into six flags in an altoid tin. (there's also room for lip balm, a couple of bandaids, and pain meds and everything stays dry) So when we made our reservations these two ideas collided and voila.

I popped that disc off of a dollar store journal I had lying around.
You can see from the color in the next pic that it is like a flicker sticker with a kaleidoscopic effect.

And now the inside.  That's a pic of me and my awesome sister inside the lid.  I'm Tink, she's Alice
And on the other side: me and DH as Tink and a pirate.

A close up of the vial of pixie dust.

Comments would be greatly appreciated as this is my first ever altoid tin, my first ever decoupage, and my first shrinky in mumble mumble years mumble.
(one week left woohoo Smiley)

43  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / M-bellished party favor tiara on: August 22, 2008 11:45:46 PM
So I'm going to play with the other princesses (Disney vaca) and needed a tiara.
Mine is glitter glue in a setting of finest plastic.  To a party favor that had originally come in a pack of four or six I added glitter glue in the facets and a stick on heart gem and sealed it with decoupage medium.
Then I made a strand of crocheted wire with beads and sequins and wove it around the existing shape. It's just for grins.

44  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Pink and Purple Plastic Princess Purse on: August 22, 2008 11:28:22 PM
Needed a purse to take to Disney World with me and came up with what my hubby calls the pink and purple plastic princess purse.

Made it up as I went along. Done in the round with extra rows back and forth on the back for a flap.  It is double crochet in back loops with an E hook done with plastic twine.

A close up of the tiara.  There's also some leftover lamp trim I had around.  I attached it to the body of the purse so it wouldn't be in the way on the flap.

And an action shot

Used to be FHA. I used to work in event production for a guy that used to produce their national conventions. Think the name changed in '97 or 8 or thereabouts.

50  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Guitar pick posies on: April 16, 2008 08:49:05 PM
These are two pins I made out of guitar picks. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them, but I gotta confess thinking of them as flowers wasn't that big of a leap from the packaging.

Sorry for the blurriness.  Also I only took pictures of one of the packages.  I mixed and matched two.  I was brand new to the wonders of Craftster then and wasn't thinking of process pics, just wanted to remember the order they were originally in.  A mock up on my living room floor. (a picture which it appears I forgot to consult)

The finished product.  This one's my fave.  It was hard getting a good shot without glare on the "petals".

The "stem" is (I think) a piece of broken bracelet from a store that used to sell loose beads and bits like that by the ziploc bagful. I wish they still had that.  And the other one.  I've had a lot of fun wearing one on my jacket lapels or this great black hat I have.  No good pics though.

The extras (they came six to a pack, but I only used five apiece) a front and back view (of another skull).  Actually the heart is also a reverse side. I liked "girls rock" instead of "rock star."  Smiley
