1  Re: Jar of Whimsies Rd 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by CamOovas on: May 07, 2013 07:02:58 PM
Okay, so I was feeling pretty proud of the package I put together, until I received from bunny1kenobi!   I can't believe how much stuff she fit in this package and all the awesome handmade goodies!

That is a handmade bag from a t-shirt (from my pinterest!) that was packed with TONS of tiny things and more bags!  She sent along a fiat bag full of vendor goodies she collected Smiley

A poor pic of the t-shirt bag, it doesn't nearly do it justice:

SOME of the whimsies that were inside:

Inside the little purple bag were all these!   I LOVE all the tiny keys!  And some on keyrings even!!!  Mini keys have been on my wishlist forever.

An awesome collection of miniatures:

And handmade minis!  I am so excited about the framed photos and the candles and the chinese boxes!

And finally, my favorite thing of all, this bracelet-  Again, the photo does not effectively translate it's awesomeness.   I am planning on wearing this every day once I can start wearing short sleeves again (we've had a couple snowstorms this May.... which I would like to say explains my blinding white arms, but that's just actually the color they are year round)

Thank you so much bunny1kenobi.... you are a wonderful swap partner and my mind has been spinning since I received, thinking of all the ways I am going to use everything!   Grin

2  Re: Post Apocalyptic Survival Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by CamOovas on: December 26, 2012 09:46:17 AM
I'm going to try and take pictures with my phone and e-mail them to myself since my computer is choosing to ignore my cameras sd card. Like I said to Alexus, Technology has not been my friend at all lately.

That's what I had to do too....

I have been a horrible horrible partner to Shynii and I apologize profusely.  She sent an amazing package, on time, and I sent late and am super late at getting pics posted.  I am grounding myself from swapping for a while :/

The package came soaked in blood stains and I found this letter:

Next I pulled out this paper bag, which I'm going to have to disassemble and frame:

Inside the bag was a super cozy cowl with two layers so it can double as a make shift apocalyptic pillow:
(my friends are all fighting over this, btw, as if they think one of them is going to get it!)

Next there was this awesome handmade bug-out bag.  The photo does not do it justice.  It is super cute and going to be a great picnic bag until the zombies come Smiley

and facemasks:

and finally, the antivirus!

Shynii, thank you so much, I loved the whole theme and the letter that explained everything.  It was very creative!!!

Here is the awesome stuff I got from willowfairy76:

Rainbow cowl:

Blue crocheted hat (it has an awesome swirly pattern that is hard to see in this photo):

And a hat and cowl set inspired by my pinterest:

She also sent a t-shirt vest but it was virtually impossible to get a good pic of it.  WillowFairy, if you have one maybe you could post it?

I love love LOVE the hats.  Hats never fit me the way I want them to so I never wear them, but these are perfect!  I have already been wearing them and will be all winter long!!  Thank you!

9  Easy Mataar Paneer in Vegetarian / Vegan by CamOovas on: July 18, 2012 05:03:53 PM
So I never post in this board (although I should.... I make some excellent food Smiley ) and now I finally remembered to take pictures while cooking and come here to post, and my dinner is on the first page!  But upon further inspection I see that it was posted a year ago, so I will go ahead and post mine as well because I have managed to simplify it pretty well.

I LOVE Indian food but the recipes can be pretty daunting and full of ingredients I've never heard of.  The pre-made Indian dishes (i.e. tv dinners) and sauces just don't cut it for me after frequenting my local Indian restaurants.   THEN, I discovered Pataks concentrated curry paste, and my life will never be the same.

What you will need:
One half gallon whole milk
Lemon juice- one quarter cup or more
Olive oil
Red peppers
Frozen peas
Tomato paste or sauce
Pataks concentrated curry paste (I've found in most local grocers that have an international section)
Basmati rice (white rice will work, in a pinch)

First, make your paneer (cheese).  Don't freak out, it's super easy. Dump the whole milk in a large pot and heat to a hard boil, stirring almost constantly.  Once boiling, add about a quarter cup of lemon juice and keep stirring.  It will separate and turn into curds and whey.  The whey/liquid will be grayish.  I usually dump some salt in at this point.

Have your strainer lined with cheesecloth.  Once separated, dump the curds and whey through the strainer.  As soon as it is cool enough to touch (by cool I mean still as hot as you can possibly handle) squeeze the excess water out of the curd.  I usually do this by twisting the cheesecloth at the gathering and pressing it with whatever objects I have laying around- because it needs to still be very hot.

Plop the cheese, in the cheesecloth, onto a plate with a kitchen towel on it. Put a plate on top and press, and then place a heavy object on top to keep the pressure on.  Let this sit while you do the next steps- at least 20 minutes.

What you will have when you are done is this:

Start your rice.

Chop your onions and peppers and saute them in olive oil.  Add garlic at some point.  Chop your tomatoes but don't add them yet.

Remove cheesecloth from paneer and cut into bite sized pieces.  Push onions and peppers aside and saute paneer in the same pan:

Once lightly browned, add tomatoes, a couple large spoonfulls of Pataks, and either tomato sauce or tomato paste and water.  Simmer on low-medium til it's a little bubbly, then add frozen peas and simmer until its bubbly again.  Once it's hot, plop it on top of your rice and enjoy!

Here is the candy stand I sent to bunny1kenobi, she said a few of the bottom jars fell off in transit so I thought I would post a pic I took:
