41  Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JAN in Crochetalongs by Selnith on: January 30, 2008 09:35:50 AM
as i seem to have come down with a really nasty cold all of a sudden i couldn't really be bothered to do anything today
so i spent this afternoon having a go at this crochet along
so here's my attempt, sorry about the colours, i thought the varigated yarn would look good

it's supposed to have another round but i got worried about the amount of yarn i had left, i think it looks ok as is though
i think i'll have to stick with this and make some blankets though

42  mary jane type slippers, gloves and some love mites in Crochet: Completed Projects by Selnith on: January 29, 2008 08:37:21 AM
i figured i'd just put all my recently finished projects together rather than clog things up with separate topics
so here we go
after seeing pickled peppers' love mite(s) i just had to have a go, mine aren't so good but i like them
archie, the first

these two don't have names

and i was running out of yarn so i had to start decreasing, he looked kinda crab like so say hello to Mr Krabbs

and all together now

next the slippers

they really were quite quick and easy once i got going, going the throw them in the washer though, to try and shrink them as they've slacked off a fair bit since i finished them

and finally the gloves
look! it's my hand

made a pair for my boyfriend too, as you can see though, as he hasn't been given his they haven't stretched out yet, mine are now in need of some shrinkage, but i think i might make them a bit longer first, they go to just above my wrist atm and i don't want them to be too short
all of the above have been made from scraps of yarn that either i or my housemate have had lying around, except for the gloves which are made from inca cloud 100% alpaca wool yarn, easy to work with, verrrrrrrrrrry soft and warm
oh and there have been some more mites/bugs and an octopus but i gave them to friends, and have had requests for more
opinions? critique? sorry there's so many pics

43  hair pieces ish in Completed Projects by Selnith on: January 16, 2008 02:54:10 AM
i gave up on revision a couple of hours before work last night and decided to make myself stand out a bit
so i made these
i know the pics are bad but i was taking them myself, if later i can get better ones i will

basically there's a false ponytail, pinned over a high bun
with more yarns plaited into lower sections of hair
and some twisties on bobby pins, overall i think it looked quite good, and it got lots of positive feedback at work

44  hand warmers in Knitting: Completed Projects by Selnith on: January 15, 2008 03:17:48 AM
i made 5 of these little jobbies over the weekend just to fill in the time, 2 have been given away already, the multi-coloured one is for my housemate and the blue ones for my boyfriend
so, the finished item, stocking stitch pouch, worked flat then sewed up like a money bag so it's self sealing so to speak

the hand warmer bit is just a cotton bag sewn from scrap material and 3/4 filled with rice

they fit just nicely in the hand being slightly less than the depth of the palm but a little wider
microwave for 30s for around 30m of warmth

45  my first completed crochet project in Crochet: Completed Projects by Selnith on: January 15, 2008 03:08:04 AM
i started this blanket aged 9, i kept working on it a bit, then putting it down, then doing some more, then having no yarn etc. etc. until finally in october i decided it could be finished, big enough to use as a bedspread on my double bed it is pictured here draped over and armchair

and here, folded and a closer shot to better show the colours

i left the edge plain rather than scalloping so that if in the future i really want to i can add more
