21  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / I wanted to make something ugly on: August 04, 2008 11:34:35 PM
Instead of drawing something beautiful... I wanted to draw something ugly...
You know, be unconventional...
But I wanted it to be so ugly that it was beautiful..I think I accomplished that...
What do you think?
22  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Watermelon, baby hat on: August 04, 2008 03:55:05 PM
I know I'm not the first to come up with this ingenious idea but I just love it!
A hat that looks like a watermelon...
This is also for my soon to be niece, Kiya...
I just crocheted the whole thing and then used black fabric paint to paint on the "seeds"...

A put the hat on a candle to dry and for the pics of course!
23  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Light switch covers, revamped!!! on: August 04, 2008 03:51:47 PM
I love to decorate anything I can....I mean everything...So the light swith covers had to be painted and decorated!!
First, my brothers cover..
He's a big fan of wrestling....So what other than the WWE logo!

I used acrylic paint and painted the screws to match!
Next mine...Purple is my favorite color plus I have tons of beads that I don't use that often....
So what other than a 2 hour project of sticking every single bead on with glue by hand! That sounds like fun, right? lol

You can't see it so well but the glass beads are really sort of metallic and in a pattern... I was also lucky enough to have the perfect shade of nail polish to paint the screws to match!!
Thanks for looking!
24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Medusa, my dress form on: August 01, 2008 11:21:17 AM
I got inspired by all of the duct tape dress forms I've been seeing and decided it was time for me to make one myself!! I had my mom help wrap me up and it took about 1 hour and a half... What a great memory to make! lol
Believe me... this is very tiring.... I started to get really hot and my back started to hurt.  Once my mom wrapped my arms I started to go numb! Then I still had to wait for her to do the last layer...
On with the pictures!
While in the process...
Naked Medusa...

Medusa in her lovely bra and panties (which works very well with my clothes since one of the breasts caved in! lol... Plus it just maes i nice and smooth under clothes)

And in the green shirt!
And both of us... Can't you see the likeness?

I'm really excited about how it came out!! It's the perfect measurements and works so well. Now I just need a stand!

Oh and for the curious, the name came from RHPS...You know in the "Planet, Schmanet, Janet"... Where Magenta hits the "Medusa" switch for Frankie...And Colombia, Dr.Scott, Brad, Janet and Rocky turn into stone....
Yeah I'm a dork I know....
25  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Yet another... Doggie sweater! on: July 31, 2008 11:49:57 AM
I honestly think one of these days Berkley is going to get sick of me playing dress up with him!
This is the best thing I've made for him yet!
This one I actually used a pattern for and it fits him like a glove!
On with the pictures!

Some one really needs to take my camera away!
26  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First wearable Baby clothes! IMG OBESE! on: July 28, 2008 12:11:39 PM
Being so excited for the impending birth of my first niece, Kiya, has started a crocheting frenzy...Before I made the blanket (which you can view on my profile) I made these cute little things!
First the red set... A dress and diaper cover with cute littleMary Jane's! I hope she can fit this for Christmas because it's the perfect shade of RED!
The dress!

The back, which has sort of a key hole opening!

The diaper cover...

The butt..

Close up of Mary Jane's...

All together...

And then the white and salmon sweater/cardigan...
Front...I love the ties at the neck!

What do you think?

27  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First Baby Blanket! IMG OBESE!! on: July 28, 2008 11:57:41 AM
It took me about a week in total to make my first baby blanket!! I made it for my soon to be niece, Kiya! (My first one!) I found the perfect magenta to match her room! I'm so excited! I can't wait for the impending baby shower (for which I am organizing the games!)...
I also crocheted a set and a cardigan but I'm posting those seperately...
I just made 4 12" granny squares and edged the and **then sl std them together**
The whole thing...

**which left a big whole in the middle. So crocheted a really mini granny square to fill it up... I sl std that together**
 Up close of the middle...

Up close of the flowers (MY FAVE PART!)

Up close of one square...

Up close of "tassle"

The blanket measures about 30 inches across. Big enough?
The yarn is really more of a magenta than the pictures lead on! The up close of the flower and middle are more true!
So how did I do for my first blanket? COMMENTS WELCOMED!
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Doggie Hoodie! IMG HEAVY! on: July 27, 2008 11:31:06 AM
So after making the poncho...I realized that my little Berkley needed a hoddie!!!
So instead of making a whole sweater, I just made it like a collar with a hood!
It has the options of ear holes or not!
And lucky Berkley, I used boy colors this time!
Hood off..

On covered ears...

With ears out...

Comments welcomed!
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Doggie poncho/cape on: July 26, 2008 05:02:45 PM
I made the cutest little poncho/cape out of some yarn scraps... I just made a bunch of granny squares and slst them together!
Poor Berkley, I only had girly colors.... We'll just pretend he's a gir! LOL!

Dolly got jealous...

And so did Summer...

Cute huh?
30  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / tons of mini salt and pepper shakers on: July 25, 2008 09:00:50 PM
I have tons of these little glass salt and pepper shakers... they're probably as tall as a 50 cent piece and the opening is as big as a pencil... Plus I have all of the tops too... I have NO idea what to do with them...
(If I need to I can post pictures!)
