21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Man Size Smokey the Bear Costume on: August 26, 2009 07:33:38 PM
I made this for my nephew - I don't have a photo of the feet but they were fur also. I added a belt with a large SMOKEY belt buckle -- but this will give you an idea of what he looked like. I cleaned up the background with white. My nephew is about 6ft tall
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / One more gift on: August 23, 2009 11:18:02 AM
I made this just in time for the bridal shower today. My Nephew's fiance, Felicia. I hope she likes it. Her wedding colors are red & black and the fabric has Love, Friendship, Forever etc. all over it.

24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Another Apron on: August 18, 2009 11:20:44 AM
I made this one for another friend - they always get the firsts - I make my mistakes on them, then sell the ones that I corrected.  This would also fall into the category of recycled.  The overalls are from a thrift store.

Thanks for looking and all cc's are welcome!
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Apron I made for a friend on: August 14, 2009 04:38:11 PM
I was talking to a friend about my plans to make and sell aprons. She told me what she would like in an apron. I surprised my friend with an apron, using her specs. (size - flap on the front to dry your hands w/a pocket behind the flap for recipes). When she got it in the mail she was thrilled. There is nothing like a surprise package, to brighten one's day.

Thanks for looking. All comments and criticisms are welcome!
26  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Chicken & Veggie stir fry on: February 08, 2009 04:41:21 PM
This is a remake of a recipe my friend created.
It was quick, easy & very good.

Chicken and Veggie stir fry

3 boneless skinless chicken breast

Mix together:
6 TB of low sodium soy
6 TB Apple Juice
2 ts of minced garlic (in a jar)
1/2 ts black pepper (if you don't want it hot-reduce this)
2 TB sugar
2 TB rice vinegar

Slice the chicken, add it to the marinade above. Let it set for about 15 minutes or so. Cook the chicken in a hot skillet, pour marinade into a saucepan, stir in the cornstarch. Cook the bag of frozen veggies and rice (per package directions)until tender. When the chicken was done, add 1/2 cup water to the fry pan, using a wooden spoon to scrape the pan for all the goodies. Then add the chicken water mixture to the marinade cornstarch mixture and cooked it for about 3 min after it comes to a boil.
Combine everything together. Due to the fact the veggies were microwaved and not stir fried it did not seem to be flavorful enough. So I added about 1/2 ts of ground ginger. It added the perfect kick. I might only add 1/4 ts next time. And there will definitely be a next time.
