Organization! HA! There's no such thing in my house. There's boxes of yarn and stray notions EVERYWHERE. hahahahahaha

I think it's because we've crammed my hubby, myself, and our toddler into three rooms with only two meager closets. I'm hoping to get better organized when we move to our bigger apartment in May. I can hope, right?  Lips sealed

I get called an "old lady" all the time, but only in joking. My friends love the stuff I make and I've even tried teaching a few of them how to knit. Not that it worked. Some people just can't quite get it. Nothing wrong with that.

If you're anything like me, those trims and stuff are what I refer to as "mom style." Meaning, I wouldn't touch them with a 10ft pole. haha

Since it's not really practical for wear, you might try making toys out of it. Bunnies, gerbils, etc. There are tons of free Amigurumi patterns out there for that stuff. Or you could always do the slipper idea, which I love. Or make something more whimsical like a lamp cozy or a shade.

You best covet that like Jayne covets Vera.  Wink

PS I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thinks that about Mal. *drools* I keep watching Nathan Fillion's other stuff and it's just not the same. Mal's character is his best role ever, I swear.

I MUST have that pattern!

I've looked everywhere online and can't find one. Maybe I should expand my resources!  Huh

Ever thought about doing a poncho instead? Those are REALLY easy (usually just two rectangles stitched together).

Make the sleeves bigger. It won't look weird if it fits you properly. In fact, it will look better.
298  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Who do you knit for? on: January 11, 2008 08:37:31 AM
I generally find a project (in any medium since I'm a serial crafter) that I love and make it. As it develops I think about who to give it to. Sometimes there's the perfect project that just screams to be made for a specific person, though. Those are usually the projects I finish faster since there's almost always a birthday or holiday deadline.
299  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: The Goldern Compass on: January 10, 2008 10:38:49 PM
There are tons of websites saying "Don't take your kids to see The Golden Compass! It was written by an atheist to downgrade the church!" It's kind of sad, really. You'd figure they would listen to the message he was trying to get across and take it into consideration instead of doing exactly what the author was warning against.  Undecided

Speed Stix are definitely your friend on this one. I've seen them as long as two feet in stores, though you might need bigger for that. Also, I'm all about the knitting multiple strands thing. I'm guessing about six strands of super bulky acrylic will do the trick. I say acrylic since it's far more practical for wear and tear on something that will be used as a chair or even footstool.
