1  God's Unleashed !! in Halloween Costumes by pastiche.lass on: November 03, 2008 09:31:35 PM
Hello, This year my husband and I went as God's. I went as the Hindu Goddess Durga and Nart went as the Greek God Hades. It was so cute, he had not decided what to be and then he saw that skull mace and had to have it, so Hades it was. lol. Our costumes are a concoction of thrift store finds and stuff we had around the house.

Hades was once a shower curtain, place mats, scraps of burlap, scraps of fake leather, and a piece of foam from a pillow. (I did not make the spider or mace)

My clothes I found at the Thrift store I just had to make alterations, I made most of my jewelry from stuff I just had around. I did not make the earrings or necklace. I made my head thingy out of trim, old jewelry and a glue gun of course. The nose ring was harder it is a old screw earring I painted and added a trinket and chain. IT is hard to see but on the other end of the chain is a bell so it wrapped around my ear. Then I got some fine tip permanent markers and drew henna like tattoos on. I had band aids wrapped around like 4 fingers, from the glass bottle my gold paint was in..that was not fun. I had gold paint everywhere.

Despite the blood sweat and tears, I really like how they came out.

2  Strawberry Shortcake Cake in Dessert by pastiche.lass on: August 16, 2008 11:26:44 AM
Hi everyone! So it was my niece's 5th birthday and I wanted to do something special for her. I decided to make her a cake. She said she wanted Strawberry Shortcake or the little mermaid. I choose Strawberry shortcake. The cake is a lemon cake 4 layers with strawberries and strawberry whip topping. Everything is make by hand. The only things I got pre-maid were: the marzipan (I used it to cover the cake and mold the figures) and the yellow cake mix. Oh my! this cake took a long time. It was my first time doing such a detailed cake and my first time with marzipan. The marzipan tasted good but is pretty expensive. If I did it again I think I could cut down the prep time in half.
Here is a close up of Strawberry Shortcake

Here is the cake

My Niece with the cake. Isn't she cute?

Sister-in-law cutting the cake. Bye Bye

And this was all that was left.

Please let me know what you think and if you have any pointers to help with marzipan please let me know.lol  for next time.

Hey.. ok my friend is leaving this week Sad so I made this for her birthday slash going away present.  Not pictured: some of her favorite snack foods for the trip, two tees and a little panda purse. Just the Kanzashi and jewelry I made her are here.

..... ok this is not real Kanzashi because i just used a glue gun instead of rice glue. This is my first try at Kanzashi. I did it because she is in love with Japanese culture.
 What do you think?Huh?

5  Retro Redo in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pastiche.lass on: April 27, 2008 03:00:28 PM
Ok I have had this dress since high school. I love it but never wear it. I separated the top and bottom. With the top I made a vest and added detailing. With the skirt I added the ribbon for a more finished look. Now as separates they both get a lot of wear. I am really happy about how the vest came out.

6  Painted File Cabinet in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pastiche.lass on: April 27, 2008 02:34:45 PM
So after sifting through lots of papers for taxes I decided to be better organized. I bought this file cabinet at a thrift store and decided to paint it. The designs were inspired by my recent trip to Jordan. I want to re paint the drawers to get rid of the detailing and maybe change the bottom border. I am too exhausted to do it now..lol maybe next year. And now for the finale....

TA! DA!..  :0)

I do not have a pic from before we put on the primer but you can see the a little  under the bar in this one...

Let me know what you think.
