1  Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011-Forever! in Craftalongs by Icekibby on: April 12, 2014 09:29:18 PM
I've been making some miniatures to swap with a friend from the ATC site I usually haunt. I used a lot of different things to make these, including a new recipe for baking soda and corn starch clay that worked really well for food items and the bee skep. We're planning another swap for December, so it'll be ongoing.

Okay, finally got my butt in gear. I've been exhausted this week. Dunno if it's the heat and humidity, or if my body is fighting something off. Anyhoozle, here is the awesome package from Sabertooth Pixie, described above.

Here's what I started last weekend. It's technically still a WIP, as I plan to add a lot of beading and so on. I'm looking for a little crown charm to put on the middle of the valance. It started as one of the punch out furniture kit pieces, and I modified the headboard to make a little princess-y canopy. There are more details on the image itself.  Sorry the image is a bit blurry.

I've been making wee books for myself, to trade, etc. They're tea stained pages, watercolour paper covers with various spine covers, and they've been thread bound. You can actually open and use them if you wanted to. They're 1:12 size.

The back row here is reserved. The rest are awaiting further decoration.

Class: Quidditch, Broomstick
House: Slytherin
Project: besom bookmark
Description: This is a scan from prior to rounding the corners and adding a tassel. The image is micron pen and watercolour on watercolour paper, backed with dark blue scrapbook paper. I'm adding one of our temple's besom chants to the back in white gel pen. It's going to be for a grimoire page trade.

I have something made for a charity auction, just need to get a photo of it!

House: Slytherin
Project Name: Snitch Patch
Description: I've been making Teesha Moore style journals for quite a while now, usually with pagan, nature, and wedding themes. I've only done one bag, but I promised my lovely spouse an HP bag. Might be done for Yule. LOL. Anyhow, here is my snitch patch, done on old fantasy fabric I had from the 90s. I think that just may be Dumbledore there in the corner. He better watch out, because I'm zooming in to grab that snitch!
The snitch is made with a gold bell and 2 silver wing charms. There are pearly short bugle beads around the sun in the left corner, and random dots of the beads coming out from there. The scan was a bit blurry in that corner because the bell held the patch out from the scanner bed.

Okay, here's what I got from Maman Tattoo!
First up, a shot of everything together: Bast and Maahes in the background (love!), some cute cards--Phrixy was interested in the needlefelted characters--the BoS, and the runes.

Next, the pretty little bag of gypsy runes. It ties with a piece of lace, and the bag matches the BoS. There are instructions for the meanings in the BoS.

And the star of the show, my new BoS! Gypsy style! The blue scarf part is soooo pretty! This is the front cover...

And here are just a few of the wonderful pages she made for me, with space to put my own information for the most part. It's great, because the tradition I'm trained in has specific standard calls for the elements for when you aren't feeling creative, and I can write them in here. There are lots of pretty pages, too many to show here, so I collaged just a few to show off.

And last of all, in the back cover is a divination page. Looks like it would work best with my pendulum, so I'll have to try it out. And look at the orange fringe! Looks like it's from one of those fun sarongs!

Love it all so much, thank you! And yes, it was worth waiting for. Smiley I think I'm addicted to making BoS pages now. Maybe I'll end up publishing a monstrous book of BoS pretties one day. The thought of it makes me happy all over!

Class: Astronomy
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Full Moon ATCs (Moon Bathing & Full Moon Owl)
Project Page Link: none
Brief Description: These first two cards were drawn from life on the grounds at Hogwarts. The first fellow I caught lounging about in the forest where I was... on an official errand for Hagrid. No, really, I was. Anyhow, the owl was waiting about for a letter to carry home so I drew him while I had the chance.

NSFW!!!   The third card shows bare boobies, just to warn anyone who might be sensitive about that, or who may be viewing from a muggle workplace!

Class: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Mermaid
Project Page Link: none
Brief Description: I came across this siren lounging on the beach by the lake. She insisted that nothing was wrong, but I'm not sure that I believe her.

Here is my submission for the Knight Bus Challenge!
Class: Knight Bus Challenge
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Purple Gypsy Wrist Cuff
Project Page Link: none
Brief Description: I hand-stitched this cuff from purple silk, with red crushed velvet on the back. The profusion of lace, bead embroidery, and red disc dangles confuse the eye so that the viewer forgets they ever saw it. Each disc is a recording device that uses muggle technology. The cuff responds even to a far distant accio charm in order to retrieve it. It can also be used while being worn, and is great for recording the goings-on at parties and festivals.

10  Mail Art: Hands in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Icekibby on: February 26, 2012 03:05:11 PM
I wasn't sure where these belong... But anyhow, I've been working using some hand shapes as bases. They're just cut from chipboard boxes after tracing my hands.

This is my first hand design, Yggdrasil. Scanned a bit crooked, sorry. It's done with watercolour, ink, gel pens.

This one is a cupcake design, with acrylic medium and glue to give dimension to the icing. The glue made the paint crack a bit, but it seems okay now. There is paper text in the background, and mini rhinestones in the frosting.

Lastly, this is Julius. He's one of my characters. He's done with watercolour, acrylic, and ink.
