13  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft a Sewing Kit Swap... What do you think? on: July 02, 2008 11:13:50 AM
I was thinking that in the same vein as the pin cushion swap, we could do a swap where we craft sewing kits.  Maybe give a maximum size, and then let people get crafty about the delivery?

We could include a list of required items (needles, pins, tape measure, thread) and let people decide whether to add extras (like small scissors, etc.). We could cap the cost of materials to keep it reasonable.

I love the idea of making one of these.  Anyone else?

If so, I'm excited to organize a swap!  Let me know!

14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Felt Gift Bag on: February 18, 2008 04:32:17 AM
For this bag, I just cut the fabric to a size that looked good, then appliqued the heart on the front, and stitched it all together with a blanket stitch.

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tie Apron on: February 18, 2008 04:29:35 AM
I created this apron for my mother's birthday.  (You can see her modeling it here.)  I cut the apron freehand, then hemmed it.  Next I attached neckties for the apron strings and around the neck.  I made the neck adjustable with d-rings.

(BTW... she loves it!)

16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Purse and totes from placemats on: February 10, 2008 08:40:38 PM
These are made out of 2 identical placemats each. The tall one my daughter wanted, but a little smaller, so we folded down the top then sewed them. We added a man's tie as the handle. She can't wait to show her friends in school tomorrow! The others were made for my friend's two girls.

17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Tea Wallet on: February 07, 2008 10:53:24 AM

Now my mother will be able to carry tea bags and sugar in her purse without worrying about anything breaking open and making a mess.

This holds 4 TAZO tea bags and 4 packets of sugar.

Tea anyone?

18  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / I felt-covered my day planner... on: February 07, 2008 07:42:48 AM
Hello.  My name is Michelle, and I'm a felt-a-holic.

Is there a 12-step program for the use of felt?  I just bought more yesterday, and when I got home I decided my day planner could look better.

I cut the felt to the right size by laying the planner on it and cutting around it.  Then I stitched the applique on, then stitched the front piece to the back.

I added a pocket for a pen to the inside flap, then stitched the insides to the outsides, and slipped the planner into it.

I like how it came out.  I used a blanket stitch for the whole thing.

Yes - I know, I need felt-help!
19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Felt-Covered Mini Notebooks on: January 30, 2008 06:10:57 AM
I started on these last night and was having so much fun I ended up making 10 so far!  Some of them have a pen holder sewn in, too!

20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Needle/Sewing "Wallet" - tute on page 2 now on: January 30, 2008 06:09:12 AM
Here is a wallet I made to carry my needles, pins, and tiny scissors in.  This way I can take small projects in baggies, and have my needles/scissors/pins in one place!

Here's the front...

And here's the inside...

Comments welcome!
