1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Favorite "Weird" Food? on: February 11, 2008 06:38:49 AM
OK..... some of the stuff listed here definitely makes my tummy hurt just reading it BUT, I can't really say much as one of my favorite "icky" foods is pan-fried bamboo catapillars..... YES, I said catapillars..... they are very much like meal-worms but slightly larger.... I buy them in a can already prepared but they are not quite crispy enough for me straight from the can so I heat up my wok and dump the can in and crisp them up a bit and add a dash of salt..... very good! I've even added them to spaghetti before and that was alright but I prefer them plain as a snack....

princess evangeline- sounds very cool!  we always try to get there early but have failed every year so far Cheesy  Last year the car broke down and added 6+ hours to the trip!  uhg.  i'll definitely get back to you on this closer to june when we have more of an idea of what's going on.  If we can't swing by, hopefully we can at least see you there!  I bet a lot of craftsters are going..  we should all meet up at some point!  That would be very cool.   Grin

Silent disco - craftster style!  Or no, even better..  if they do it this year, (they didn't last year, but did the other two years i've gone) THE MASQUERADE BALL!  The perfect place to show off all out crafting skillz!

Hmm.. maybe we should post about this on the Tennessee board, or some other more appropriate board where more people can see...

there's a TENNESSEE board?Huh?? who would'a thunk it?Huh?? ha ha ha

How did you fill the black squares without it leaking?

I've seen a technique somewhere that says when you are wanting to "fill" something like thoses amazing black beads *ammasmama* used, is to take a strip of duct tape and place the item onto the tape (bottom side down) and press the item onto the tape so you create a "leakproof" seal, then pour resin etc and when the resin has hardened completely, you peel the tape off the back and sand / buff the back side to get rid of the "textured" impressions that the tape made......
That's one way...... but I'd like to know how the black bracelets were done too.....I'm so excited that I have one of those awsome beauties on the way to me now!!!!! you rawk ammasmama! I know I'm gonna lurve my new bracelet!!!!!

I also use eye shadow to tint / sparkle my resin...... my latest piece was tinted with red food coloring and a pink sparkle "loose" eyeshadow powder..... worked out really well..... I just make sure to mix the powder shadow in really really well so I don't get any "dry floater" clumps in my resin.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Marble Necklaces/Pendants on: January 15, 2008 08:28:44 AM
Hi! My mom's birthday is coming up next friday and she's a really big HP fan. I wanted to make her a one of a kind necklace and my friend sent me this picture of something she found online.(She can't remember who the artist is or if she/he was selling them)

I know how to put the image on the marble, but I don't know about the white background and the wire to hold the chain. If anyone can give any advice, that would be great :]

I have no idea, but who is that cool chick with the wild hair in your avatar? LOL, I love it!
Totally no help to you, I am afraid...

the cool chic in the pic is actress Helena Bonham Carter (wife of Tim Burton) as seen in HP...... She's my all time favorite actress.....

QUICK QUESTION - I am looking to purchase the Firebox 8 Kiln by Skutt and was wondering if anyone has ever used this for firing PMC? I want to be able to fire PMC and use for glass fusing...... should work out for both, right?
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: PMC Ring Sizing Question on: January 14, 2008 01:30:11 PM
You should really check out the PMC thread if you haven't already but I did look at the link you provided and my understanding is these forms keep the ring from shrinking to a size smaller than whatever size form you use, so if you want sze 6, use form size 6, then dissolve it off after firing.....
