2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / From boring to Musical... on: August 23, 2008 01:23:50 PM
hi everyone!
my mom gave me this plain black boring but useful pleather bag, that i wear because is rain-proof and has a lot of useful pockets.
but it was too boring for me... (i still got a few compliment from my boring classmates Cheesy)
and i remember a topic here on craftster that i bookmarked agesago: The keyboard purse (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31508.0)
and some pictures from the great band "Au Revoir Simone"
http://www.fredflare.com/blog/?p=993 (picture+ the cutest video)
other keyboard picture (main inspiration): http://www.fourears.net/category/au-revoir-simone/

here are my piano bag pictures:
i made the piano out of felt and i embroidered the lines, and i glued it to the bag

when i just finished it i wasn't really happy with the results, i thought: ups this is too big and too "attention catching", even for me...
but i wore it anyway and i looooove it so much, plus i have received a lot of compliments from my not-boring classmates Cheesy
specially from the "musician" ones Cheesy

sorry for the loooooong post, it's never my intention to write so much, but i can't help it Smiley
thanks for reading!!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hot-water bottle cozy (+ pattern link) on: August 16, 2008 02:32:42 PM
hi everyone! i thinks this is my first post in the knitting board Smiley

i made this hot water bottle cozy for my boyfriend to use at night, because here in Chile is winter right now.
i've been promising a hotwater bottle for him for ages, and finally i had the time and the enough knitting abilities to do it Cheesy

it was a quick project and it helped me to learn a lot, watching videos on the internet to learn how to do stitches and weird things that i never heard before Cheesy a great website for videos is: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/learn-to-knit , the videos are really really good, and i watched some in youtube because i'm left handed Smiley http://es.youtube.com/user/LeftyKnits .

the hot water bottle was really cheap so i have to test it before i give it to my boyfriend, i don't want him to get burned Tongue
(it cost $1500 chilean pesos on a fabric store (?) and in pharmacies they cost like $5000 pesos! i hope is good cuality, or even "decent" quality Tongue)

the pattern is from here: http://www.blueskyalpacas.com/pattern_detail.php?patterns_ID=32
very easy to follow, i altered it by casting on half stitches and the increases were made with half the stitches too, is good to test gauge before starting!!

the pictures:

and the i-cord i learned to make, it was really easy and i love it, i'll be making more of these cords Smiley
(thanks to LeftyKnits videos on youtube)

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / the 41st month Manatee on: July 15, 2008 09:22:48 PM
hi everyone!
last july 11th was my 3 years and 5 months aniversary, but i was studying then so i couldn't make my boyfriend a present earlier.
last month i made a very cute whale for him and to keep with the underwater theme i made him a manatee this time.
we reeaaaally love manatees, who couldn't love them, they are the cutest.
i used this pattern:

but i made a mistake with the belly pattern, i put the tail end in the front and the head end in the back.. ooooops, so i had to fix it when it was completely sewn (he had a huge snout) so that's why mine is not the same from the original pattern

well also there wasn't gray felt at the store, this was the lightest color i found Tongue
and he has a big heart too Smiley

i'm giving it to him tomorrow, i hope he likes it,
and that it makes friends with the whale Cheesy Cheesy

thank you very much for reading!!
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / the cutest underwater animal ever (made by me at least) on: June 10, 2008 07:26:48 PM
hi everyone! (first i hope you guys post your comments because the last things i posted a couple of weeks have zero comments Sad)

well, tomorrow is my 40 month aniversary Smiley (yes, we still cellebrate each month)
and i found a really really cool blog that has lots of scanned craft magazines (http://solomanualidades.blogspot.com in spanish, but there are magazines in a lot of languages)

there was a folder with loose animal patterns and it hought this was the cutest thing ever, so i made it for my boyfriend with recycled materials from my big fabric scrap bags (blue sweatshirt and white polar fleece, embroidered mouth? and black tshirt eyes)

look at him!!  Cheesy
i wrinkled my sheets so it looks like the ocean Cheesy

this one is taken without flash to see the real color better.

oh and here's how i wraped it for the boy  Kiss

(this one taken with webcam sorry Tongue)
i used white kite paper? (that's how we call it in Chile, its a very delicated kinda see-through paper, with a soft shiny side) and draw "sea waves" on it. on top of the white i used blue silk paper (you can see the waves IRL Cheesy) and a seaweed bow

i think he'll love it, because i loved it Smiley

thanks for reading my allways long explanations, and thanks for posting Smiley

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / printing free patterns form "m-sewing patterns"??? on: June 04, 2008 02:51:41 PM
hi! i have downloaded a LOT of patterns from "m-sewing patterns "
those are free and pretty, the perfect mix Cheesy
the patterns are pdf files, but those huge pdf files, like the ones you have to print with a plotter (like blueprints)
and i hace no idea how to print them tiled (in letter sheets)
i think like in january i did that, but i absolutely can't remember how i did it!!
here's the link with the printing instructions
i installed Autodesk Design Review but it doesnt support pdf files

besides! i speak spanish so i don't really really really undertstand the instruction completely Sad

thank you so much for reading and posting Smiley

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / the i'm so hot sweater on: May 31, 2008 06:14:22 PM
well, this isn't a GREAT OR COMPLICATED recon, but i post it to give ideas for all the HANDY BUT NOT REALLY CREATIVE craftsters (like me:))

so, my mom bought me this nice turttle neck sweater from a second hand shop, and its really nice, but i'm taking thyroid hormones replacement pills, and they make me get really hot easily (specially my face) so i haven't wear turttle necks in a while Tongue

i decided to just cut the neck off, and don't think it twice Cheesy
i don't think it will unravel because i left the neck "bottom seam" (i dont know how to explain)
so i had a perfectrly good turtle neck and didn't know what to do with it, so, i used it to make the sleeves longer:
cut it in half and sew it to the end of the sleeves
the seam is far from perfect but i don't care Cheesy

(the cut turttle neck)

well, that's it
thank you so much for reading and posting, and have a great night

i hope it gives you ideas, i allways apreciate yours Smiley

Saludos para todos Smiley
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 2 recycled (non-reconstructed) Idit Tops (free pattern) on: May 31, 2008 06:00:08 PM
well, sorry for the long Subject Tongue
i wasn't sure where to post this, because i used giant tshirts as material, but i used a pattern to cut the pieces and everything and pretty much didn't use the original parts of the tshirts.....

i made them with the FREE burdastyle pattern "Idit Top" http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/show/166

i made the sleeves different because i wasn't sure those would be flattering on me, too puffy i guess. i made them "normal".
i made this one first, made from a not so large tshirt, so i stretched while i cut the pattern pieces Roll Eyes
and used black ribbing for the waistband

(i cut my face because i look fearful Cheesy (i didn't get dressed today, and of course didn't took a shower either Roll Eyes)

the gathered part i made it "my own way" not as said in the pattern (it was a last minute choice, i wasnt gonna gather)

the second try: the shirt was bigger => more available fabric, this one looks more like the original pattern, but with regular sleeves too.
also i made it longer than the pattern said.

the gathering (like the rock band Cheesy)

i made these tops to wear over old too-belly-showing summer tshirts Tongue
it was an easy pattern and it really works for what i wanted.

Hope you like it too, and try it Wink

thanks for reading and posting, have a great night

saludos para todos
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Autumn Wedding, What to wear?? on: April 25, 2008 08:51:13 PM
hi guys!
i'm invited to a wedding next week, and here in Chile is starting to get really cold.
i have a great dress that i wore to a cousin's wedding in december 2005, and i love it, but i think i'll get really really cold

this is the dress:
(please ignore my shoes Cheesy it was late in the night)

i don't know how are the weddings where you live (i'm from Chile), but here is really common that the wedding party is at night, like a dinner, then a lot of dancing Cheesy

I dont'k know what to wear on top of the dress, i have a very very light shawl, but i don't think its enough.

it is one of my boyfriend's co-worker wedding, and other problem is the shoes, because my boyfriend is the same height as me, and the pink sandals i have have a little heel,
and this shoes could be another choice, but theese are red, but i like them because they are more ballet-like

aaahh please help meee!!!!!!  Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / incredibly easy cosmetig bag--> TUTORIAL link on: February 28, 2008 04:10:40 PM
i bookmarked this tutorial ages ago, and i fInally read it and made it come true Cheesy
is was so much easier actually making the bag, than trying to imagine it in my head while i was reading Cheesy

it was so easy and quick, and it looks really really good!
it turned out a little bigger than i thought.
i made it for carrying toothbrush, toothpaste, mirror, band aids (you never know whn you gonna need one Cheesy), toilet paper and stuff like that to the university (i spend pretty much all day there Tongue)

i definitely recomend this tutorial Wink  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=176509.0
(sorry forgot to paste the link)
and a zipper foot, i think he's one of my best friends Cheesy because he makes my project look waaay better

thank you for reading,
feel pushed free to post Cheesy THANKS!
