1  Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ MAR in Crochetalongs by kelguen on: March 11, 2008 07:53:43 PM
I realized I never posted my February square on here, so here's February and March.  The colors on these two don't seem to go together, but it'll make sense when everything's put together (hopefully)!  Smiley

2  Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JAN in Crochetalongs by kelguen on: January 19, 2008 10:06:45 PM
Finally finished my Dreamcatcher square and my filler square.  I had to add an extra round of dc to my Dreamcatcher square in order to get it to measure 12".  The pattern for my filler square is called Maggie's Square and can be found here: http://www.heartmadeblessings.org/patterns/Maggiessquare.asp

I'm in Chicago, and it's freezing here!  I wish I had the whole blanket done already so I could hide under it.   Smiley

3  Felted Bag in Crochet: Completed Projects by kelguen on: January 09, 2008 04:58:52 PM
This was my first attempt at felting, and I'm relieved it didn't turn out the size of a doll's purse.  I followed a pattern I found here: http://wildyarn.blogspot.com/2006/01/felted-memo-bag-corrected.html and loved the idea of using quilt bias binding as a strap (which worked very well).  It was all done with Paton's Classic Wool, and before felting it measured about 13" by 12".  After felting it measured about 8" square.  To felt it, I ran it through a hot wash with a pair of old jeans, and it was done after only 15 minutes.

Here's a picture of it closed before felting:

And after felting:

And here's a picture of it open before felting:

4  Crochet Hook Case, Amigurumi Kiwi, and Amigurumi Chick & Egg in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by kelguen on: January 03, 2008 05:34:43 PM
Hi!  I learned how to crochet when I was a kid and then had to reteach myself a couple of years ago.  These are the first non-scarf projects I've made (all in the last 2 weeks).  I'm a newbie, so the forum is only letting me post links to my photos.

The crochet hook case was based on a free pattern I found here (I changed the inside pocket design): http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/case.html

The kiwi bird was made from a free pattern I found here: http://gnathalie2.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/my-crocheted-take-on-kiwi

The chick & egg were made from a pattern I bought on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8646098

The kiwi is an anniversary present for my boyfriend (he's from New Zealand), and the chick & egg are going to his mom and dad (they raise chickens).  The crochet hook case is mine all mine.  Smiley  -Kelly
